Default your views about your own culture and traditions

I am an Indian and proud to be one where one can see the blend of many cultures into one. It has a rich history behind it for which I am proud of but there are a few bad aspects also like the child marriage, Sati, etc but most of them have been eradicated from the society

respecting everyone and treating everyone on the same level is taught in India and also maintaining peace.
you can share your thoughts about your own culture and traditions in this thread

thanks

I am also Indian and respect Indian culture. But i think there should be no hard and fast rules. Culture should come within and should not (and cannot) be enforced upon anyone. I follow the traditions which i feel are good. And simply forget the rest.

I am german and as far as i know we are seen as a land of beer drinkers. Well, that's what the US media show, but it's also true especialy for bavaria. Personally i don't drink beer at all and i don't identify myself with this culture. Actually, this is very uncommon for a german.

But in history, germany is known and called the "Land of poets and thinkers". That's a tradition i am proud of and that i could identify myself with.

America. I don't know where to start. We export a lot of our culture.
Where do you start:
Reality TV: Drama that spills over into your life. I have to one up the neighbour culture, very common in suburbs, they always on the go, processed food eating

on the other hand some think of the American Cowboy. Slow talkin' , good cooking, etc.

The culture of the US is so diverse, it's very hard to explain it. TV often doesn't even portray it. There are many things I don't like about General American culture. I would say that there is a general need for power, whether the big trucks of the rural people or the one upping the neighbour, or the powerful cars.

But there also is the value of the hard working American.

I think there is a struggle here over values. To be honest. As an American, I'm a little confused with what's happening right now. It seems of course like people have one goal in mind, but they are striving to lead the country there in totally different ways.

Being Indian, I respect to my countries culture and traditions. No where in the world, you would a country with 25 different languages and also India celebrates 15 different festivals in one year. I'm proud of my country.
