Poor Education in Africa - Africa cannot advance without good education

I think that Africa cannot advance without good education. The education system as compared to the education systems else where, is nothing good to write home about. I am an African and I talk from experience. The education system in Africa is very bad. Students graduate from school with degrees and certificates but cannot use these degrees to do anything better in life. Everything about the education in Africa is just "memorization". We memorize the theories without any practical aspect. We write and pass our exams but nothing good beyond that. What do you think about the education system in Africa? Can Africa move forward without good education?

If what you say is true then this sounds like a very poor educations system. Learning by rote has been proven to be a fairly ineffective method of learning compared with other methods. People (including children) remember things better if their lessons are interesting and they gain a good understanding of the subject being taught. Without the understanding of subjects, learning by rote geared towards being able to provide the correct response on an examination paper renders the exam results themselves meaningless... that's because it will only measure memory, not understanding of the subject.

yes i totally agree to your quote, without proper education africa can't develop. this is fact, unless or untill they give the proper education they wont develop. sorry to say africa can't develop,if they don't take the necessary action on educational issues, i am sorry to say Africa can't develop. the current government should take necessary actions against the educational issue and make their land developed

It is true that education does change a nation, but before this happens, that nation must change that education first!

It is true that with this poor education system,Africa cannot develop.Imagine where one teacher attends to class of 250 children.whichever method you use, trust me that less than half of them will understand their teacher.But all in all, i would condemn the poor African leaders, are selfish and do not really serve either their people or the God in whom they usually take the oath.But all that will end as the future leaders(the youths of to day) think about themselves.
