If you want something to keep you awake, then you should maybe try some fresh fruit. An Apple believe it or not is very refreshing and will give you instant energy.
Energy drinks are terrible. They are loaded with sugar and caffeine. I would never drink them or allow my children to drink them. Yes Soda is very unhealthy, but in my opinion energy drinks are even worse because they sometimes try to disguise themselves as harmless or even healthful. Blah, what a load of hooey. Stick to the foods that nature intended! |

Energy drinks are way worse than soda. Have you ever looked on their labels. They are filled with caffeine filled ingredients, although some do taste good. I had a bottle of NOS one time and I was hyper for the whole day. That was a fun time!

They are bad for your health no stop god knows why they allowed to sell them after the few deaths they've caused. If this was a drug it would be banned on the spot.
The amount of sugar per can is a joke, as well as the ridiculously high caffeine content no wonder people are having heart palpitations and irregularities. Most think you cant overdose on caffeine but you can easily especially coupled with exercise. My advice stay as far away from these energy drinks as possible, you want energy drink yerba mate or coca tea both healthy full of nutrition and will keep you going without the horrible crash like you get from caffeine. |

The best advice would be just to not drink either energy drinks or soda. I don't feel any boost from energy drinks and it's just scary what it does to people..I see some people drink 4-5 a day and it just disturbs me what they're doing to their body.
And at least for me, I hate the taste of energy drinks (although Nos is alright), so I don't drink much anyways. I need to stop drinking soda though :p |

Energy drinks don't work for me. Once i had can of redbull and then instead of going out and do some work i slept for about 4-5 hours.:P(reverse action).
Still, anything is better than soda. That sugary mixture does no good to you and your body. Please avoid it as much as possible. |

I think monster energy all the flavors i have at least six a day i do not get sped up heart beats at all and they DO NOT CAUSE BRAIN DAMAGE. If you compare coke and Mountain dew with monster monster is definitely healthier and if you have increased heart beats drinking any form of Energy Drinks than stop it means you might be sensitive to caffeine.
And any soda or energy drink may cause heart disease because of the caffeine. |

Hey guys, I'm here to tell you a few about energy drinks. I drink two to three energy drinks a day. Now I'm not saying that I am ungodly fit or anything like that but I am in mma and I have pretty good stamina for a 170lb fighter. Like I said, I don't want to sound like I'm bragging.. I'm just plainly explaining. But, I drink alot of energy drinks obviously. I sometimes get sugarless, sometimes don't. I don't even get a buzz from them anymore, they just keep me up. However, if I drink pop, or soda whatever you like to call it, I sweat, and feel like I could cough up a snot ball. I also get tired when I drink pop. Especially more then like half a can. I used to drink pop all the time too though. So don't think I haven't been on both. But I've learned that energy drinks treat me alot better than pop does. Energy drinks are no worse then soda what so ever. The vitamins you get from them are much better then the dyes and crap in soda. Especially if you buy the right energy drinks. You can get sugarless, zero carb, both of those, or even zero calorie. Just gotta watch what you get.

Today I was comparing NOS energy drinks to a can of Mountain Dew. For 12 oz. of both drinks, it calculates to be NOS: 42g carbs, 40.5g sugar, 165 calories, 172.5mg sodium, 1.5g Protein, 100% vitamin C, B6, and B12, 25% folic acid. Mtn. Dew: 46g carbs, 46g sugar, 170 calories, 65mg sodium, 0g protein, no other nutrients. Caffeine NOS v MTN Dew: 195mg v 54 mg.
NOS has less sugar, less carbs, less calories (simply because of the less sugar and less carbs), more sodium, more protein, 100% daily value of three essential vitamins, and folic acid (which is good for pregnant women, weird). MTN Dew has more carbs, more sugar, more calories, less sodium, no protein, and no other vitamins. most of the energy you are receiving from the NOS is from more caffeine, and then natural herbs and ingredients like guarana, ginseng, etc. So, looking at these statistics, i would say that energy drinks are actually the same, or maybe a little healthier, than sodas with similar nutritional structure as MTN. Dew. So all you mom's out there getting on your children for chugging those energy drinks might one think about cutting out your own soda's first before you bash the energy drinks ![]() (I love energy drinks. Thus the last statement was a little biased...lol. BUT, the nutritional values are correct.) |
