Question What if Jesus is not the true son of God or maybe just a prophet?

Most Christians don't even know the true name of the God of Abraham (YAHWEH). Most Christians believe that Jesus and the Father(God of Abraham) are one and hence Jesus is the God of Abraham. But what if Jesus is not the true son of God or maybe just a prophet?. all Christians are going to hell?

the reason why i am saying this is that, you remember in those days, any girl who became pregnant before her proper marital rites was stoned to death. Mary became pregnant and Joseph wasn't responsible for her pregnancy. there was no doubt that Mary was going to die. everybody is afraid of death. don't you think that the poor Mary might have created this angel story just to save herself? The Bible says that Jesus performed miracles which shows that He is the Son of God.

I belief in magic and in fact, Pharaoh had many magicians who could also perform great miracles but these magicians were not children of God. do you believe deeply that Jesus Christ is the true son of God?

Great post Gary, very thought provoking. I have to admit, I did laugh a bit when you said that Mary made the whole thing up to save herself from being stoned, BUT it is possible. Most people will do almost anything to save themselves from being killed, especially if the method for the day is stoning.

I've also heard stories about how Jesus could've walked on water that isn't considered magic to us, but would've been considered magic during those times (cornstarch comes to mind if you know what I mean )

Whether or not its true, I guess one day we'll all find out, but even if it isn't true, He did teach a great message

...that Joseph, Mary's fiancee ,had a dream with an angel sent from God who told him not to be afraid of taking Mary as a wife since she is innocent and the baby she's going to have is from Holy Spirit. Without that dream and that angel coming to him, Joseph would never believed Mary's boy were the son of God.
Maybe you should read the Bible before making comments about it .

Question

well, I am a Christian and i read the Bible all the time even though it is difficult to belief at times. The Bible is the word of God but the main problem with the Bible is that, it contradicts itself at times and hence making it somehow difficult to belief. When angel Gabriel came to Mary nobody was around. Mary told Joseph her dream and Joseph couldn't belief it. Joseph thought about it all day and night and Joseph had a similar dream concerning an angel too. Don't you think Joseph might had had this angel dream because He was thinking too much about the Angel story Mary told him?.

Christians worship Christ the son of God, and God is ignored. Interesting. Whatever that is, let me get to the question.

Oh yes, is Jesus son of god. I think the entire bible is a sort of mythical book framed for satisfying the interests of some in the society (Already discussed that in Time to quit christianity) and we are all meant to be sons and daughters of god (God created us) what a weird concept. I'd love to hear from my friend gloria about this.

We are not here to discuss about psychiatry, are we. Anyways in that aspect, yes, quite a possibility. Lucky that you did not say the rising was just an illusion. See, this is all a mythical story framed by some guy (we gotta believe this, as we will sure be driven crazy by this fat book called bible). Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism etc are easier to digest and there's nothing much contradictions over there. So Bible seems like an oddly framed book.

im quite shocked that as a christian it seems as if you're not too sure about what you believe....the bible speaks about double minded people james 1:8. You are contradicting yourself aswell..you cant say that Gods word contradicts its self...IT IS THE TRUTH! BELIEVE THAT IT IS! there is nothing wrong with the bible....unless theres something wrong with God word..(thats what it seems like your potraying)...
I think you should really pray and ask God to reveal himself to you....you seem to be confused..(no offence) im just trying let you see as a sister in christ that you might be opening yourself up to things that are wrong...do you still read ur star signs..purhaps read about other religions? Be careful what doors you open in your life. becare who you listen to..maybe you have unbelieving friends and their opinion have left you unstable...

thanks very much for your advice sister Deborah!.. the Bible is the word of God and it is good to read the Bible all the time. However, understanding is from God and in other to understand the Bible, one has to pray to God for understanding.

Your well come...keep your eyes on God...share the Gospel!

This is a very intriguing question, but in my opinion Mary did not make a story in order to save her life from being stoned, it was written in the bible before Marry get pregnant, that God sent an angel from Heaven to tell Mary that she is going to conceived with the son of God which he may call Jesus.
It's better to read a bible everyday to keep you updated.

I am a Christian and I believe in god and I know that our god whom we pray as the father, the son and the holy spirit. Jesus has come on Earth to save us from our sins but yet we only believe that Jesus is the son of our Supreme Father and we did not even discuss about it.

You sound very "Thomas" in nature. Even if you do not believe that Jesus Christ is the true son of God, just try and understand the good things He said and the good things He did while He was on earth. I am not saying trust Him but at least trust the good things He said and the good things He did and try and do the same and stay away from trouble. Jesus did no wrong while He was on earth. He loved His neighbor as He loved Himself and that is enough proof that He is a righteous man if not for anything else. Magicians could heal the sick and even raise the dead. magicians could make the blind see and the lame walk but there is one thing Magicians find it very difficult in doing and that is to love their neighbors as they love themselves and that distinguishes Jesus from all others like those powerful magicians of Pharaoh's.

I hope the person who first asked this question and the other few who had responded are still visiting the site. I am by no means the best qualified to give the correct answer to this question, however as a believer in the Deity of Jesus Christ, I would like to say what has been revealed to me. Before I go further I would like to say that "It takes a revelation for someone to perceive the things of God." You could be part of a discussion about Christian truths and mysteries and hear everything that is being said but still not understand a mote of what is being discussed. I had such an experience indeed! The grace of God undertook for me and now I am a witness of what the Lord meant when He said "Except a man be born again he can in no wise see the kingdom of heaven."

Jesus is the true Son of God yes, and for that statement the religious leaders of His day crucified Him. Why? because they understood that by that statement He was calling Himself God. Let's go to Genesis. God said to Adam, "Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good of and evil, lest you die." When God gave Adam that commandment, did He not know that Adam would eat of that tree? Of course God knew that Adam would eat, because He knows what will be and what has been. Therefore because God gave Adam a commandment that He knew Adam would break, it is not Adam's fault that he broke that commandment. Adam and his race can not help themselves to get out of the trap of sin. We all come into the world with the inclination towards sin and we can never do anything to save ourselves. Since God is the one who gave Adam a law that He knew Adam would transgress, is it only not clear that ONLY GOD HAS/HAD THE SIN ANTIDOTE? Yes! Therefore God Himself is the one who had to die (The bible says the penalty of sin is death.) When a penalty is paid then the crime is done with. So God became a man so that He could pay the price/penalty/fine for sin. As a Spirit, God could not die, therefore he by-passed sexual birth and created a body in the womb of a woman, and then dwelt in that body Himself so that "GOD COULD DIE ON BEHALF HIS CREATION." Remember everything on earth is for his good pleasure! Things are all working the way He wants. He is the almighty and there is no power that is above His power. There was no one to give Him advice when He laid out the program of life on earth. We are all like clay pots in His hands and He does with us as He likes.

So here is the sum of what I said. Jesus was God in Flesh, so He could die to take away sin from His creation. The gifts of the Magais testified to that (Gold = Deity, Frankincense = Service and Myrrah = death.; Deity/God, in service to die). Christianity is the only religion that makes me understand life on earth, and gives me the true hope of escaping the consummation of Sin. God used a woman who was engaged to a man to bring Himself into the world for several reasons; and here are some of them; i) He had to come in the lineage of Judah (Joseph the foster father was from the lineage of Judah, hence the dream not to fear to take his wife; genealogies can not be counted to women.) ii) To offend the children of the evil one so that they can be not be saved. iii) The same way that sin came into the world is the way God took it out. Before Adam lived with Eve, the Serpent made Eve pregnant, by sex. Before Joseph married Mary, God made her pregnant by the spoken Word (not sex, sex is the forbidden fruit.) All that are born of a woman by sex come into the world speaking lies; sinners!)

This same message that i have written will offend others and bless others. Wear the hat that is your size. No offense really. God bless those that can be blessed and curse those that must be cursed. Amen

words both gain and lose their meaning in time, but the flaws of mankind persist. asking if Jesus was the son of God is a irrelevant question. If God was Jesus, then believing in God himself would suffice for believing in Jesus, real or not. Jesus can be erased from that equation, therefore your question eradicates itself.

this is a very sensitive and intriguing question I have ever read in a forum.
I believe Jesus is the true son of God. I know you are in doubt but when you believe in God everything will put into places. the story of mary was true. St. Joseph wouldn't help her if she was not Good. I think Priest would not spend time to teach Bible teachings if these were just fraud.

I believe that Jesus is the true son of God, because I believe that the Bible is true. This said, it is natural for us to be skeptical and therefore it's natural for us to attempt to poke holes in any religious structure. If the Bible is the word of God, then it cannot tell a lie, because God is unable to lie. If God was able to lie, then he would not be God.

Conception of Jesus

BIBLE FACT: The Bible does say that Mary had no intercourse prior to conceiving, being described as innocent.
BIOLOGICAL FACT: It takes one sperm and one egg to create a baby.
MY INTERPRETATION: No intercourse means that for certainty Mary and Joseph did not have penetrative sex. Her innocence may refer to her hymen still being intact. This being said it does not necessarily mean that they didn't participate in other sexual activities that fall short of penetrative sex (By which even a tiny amount of sperm getting near to her vagina could have caused pregnancy). I believe that Gabriel DID speak to both Jospeh and Mary, and that while the creation of Jesus' body was a perfectly natural thing, Jesus was spiritually God's son and he did die for our sins.

God created nature, every subatomic particle, the laws of chemistry and the laws of physics, both of which govern the laws of biology. God exists at all points along the space-time continuum, past, present and future being all the same to him. Having a four dimentional existance is how God knows everything, including how to make the universe. If God made all these physical laws, then they must be perfect (eg. if the gravitational constant had been much different either the first stars could not have formed to create the heavier elements, or the universe would have collapsed in on itself in a big crunch long ago). If the laws of nature are a perfect creation then God would not need to break these laws in order to create a body for himself to inhabit.

I realize that some Christians might find the very idea of Mary and Joseph fooling around without penetrative sex offensive, but it is the only logical way that Mary could have become pregnant without the (perfect and designed by God) laws of nature being broken.

Before anyone says 'but what about the miracles', I'd point out that there is still a great deal that we do not understand about the scientific laws which govern our universe. This being the case, Jesus would have known these laws and used them to create a miracle. It's a bit like a stone age man seeing a car, he would consider that a miracle because it is so far advanced from anything he would have understood.

If Jesus is the son of God then who is the wife of God? You cannot have a son without first having a wife and I know for sure God does not undergo binary fission. All these are stories and there is nothing like the son of God or what so ever. Jesus was a first century Palestine man who suffered and died. Nothing more than that.

God is mysterious and we cannot understand everything about God. We are limited and God is unlimited hence our limited minds cannot understand everything about God. Whether Jesus is the true son of God or not, Jesus was a good man and He lived a good life and He taught good things which to me is the most important thing.

Well, it hasn't been either proven or disproven, that is why it falls within the realm of religious belief rather than confirmed fact.

To Bible readers, the Bible also says we are all children of God. We are all his sons and daughters. Oh what it would be if everyone truly understood that. There is only one God, don't make a golden calf or the price will be paid. Bank on it.

I don't really care whether Jesus is God or not because I don't believe in any God. If there is any God at all in this universe, It is me. I believe in myself. I don't believe in what people say and I don't believe in what they do. I don't believe in things I do not see and I don't believe in things I cannot touch. I believe in myself.

I believe that Jesus Christ is the true son of the living God. You may believe in Jesus Christ and you may choose not to believe in Jesus Christ because Jesus Christ may or may not be the true son of the most High God. However, you should know the fact that there is a God up there and that for you to exist, there must exist what it takes for you to exist.

I've been a Catholic my whole life and I do believe that Jesus is in fact the son of God.
You do not have to be a Catholic, or Christian, or have ANY religion, but you CAN believe that a God did exist.
If you're Muslim or Islam or Sikh, whatever, we are ALL worshiping the exact same God. We just give him/her different names. We all believe in a special afterlife. It may be Reincarnation for some faiths, heaven for others, or a different world for others. But in the end, its all the same place, just a different name.
But, back to the topic. I do believe that Jesus is the son of God.

Well sticky, what do you mean by that did? I believe god do exist, as a force. Come on, we are all sons and daughters of god, aint we? Or is it just the Christians? Can't agree to the point at all. God is a universal power, or force, which exists within each of us, which leads us, which induces a fear within us when we do a sin. That's the force which i call 'God'. So better lets cut this 'Son of god' crap. This is the main reason why I dislike Christianity. They proclaim, that Jesus is the son of god, and that indirectly means that god just blesses the Christians, doesn't it? Oh Crap!

What a rascal eh? But what about....oh sorry no questions needed. Just faith. Faith.
eh back to the question. Is jesus the true son of God?

The Bible NEVER contradicts it self once. Please tell me where in the bible you see a contradiction. I will most likely be able to answer your question. I would also recommended reading the Book ( "Answers to tough Questions" by Josh McDowell and Don Stewart )

You ask what if Christians are wrong about Jesus????

then we shall all be with you in hell.

Let me ask you? what if we are right and you are wrong??

are you willing to take that chance??

Read this book called 23 minutes in Hell

about a guy who didn't believe as you but he was given another chance

and wrote us a book about it less than $5 dollars

this is a very good question. In my opinion, it is better to follow Jesus and end up a fool than not follow Him and end up in Hell. If you follow Jesus and at the end of the day He isn't God, your fate will be like everyone else but if you don't believe in Him and at the end of the day He is truly the son of God, you will be in trouble so it is a wise decision to believe in Jesus.
