Very few are 100% satisfied with their appearance and, because of this, many will opt to go in search of that "magic formula" in hopes of changing the way they look. Not only are they lured into spending their cash on all kinds of pills, creams, oils, rubs, etc, (of which most are more hype then help, anyway) but, if they don't get the results they are looking for, then, sadly, they will often think they have no other choice then to "go under the knife" instead. Unfortunately, even this (for many) will still not give them exactly what it is they were sincerely looking for to begin with (satisfaction with how they view themselves). For some, they change virtually everything possible about their outsides (eyes, ears, nose, breasts....) but, even if the results of each and every one of those changes turns out perfectly, their insides may still be telling them that they are, somehow, 'flawed.' In turn, one surgery leads into the next while that individual continues in his/her own search of perfection. However, for some, that search will never end because, as everyone knows, there is no such thing as perfection. I have nothing against plastic surgery but, if someone is simply using it for the sole sake of "looking right for someone else", I do find it rather...sad. No one should be made to feel so bad about their appearance that they take to doing something that they otherwise wouldn't do (and something potenially dangerous, at that). On the flip side, though, I also realize it is easy for one to say, "just be happy with the way you currently are; love what God gave you and meant for you to be; leave well enough alone; etc, etc, etc," but, truth is, that is easier said than done for most (rather hard to accept yourself when so many others out there, media included, won't do the same). If that was the case (society being more accepting) magic formula's and plastic surgery would be nowhere near as popular are as they are today.
Oh, and as for whether or not I'm satisfied with my appearance, the answer to that would be yes. Am I perfect? No! Are there things about my looks that I'd like to change? Sure! But then again, it's not the end of the world if I stay just as I am so, for now, that's exactly what I plan to do.
