When i was a Windows user, i used to play with a lot of antivirus softwares but most of the times, AVG antivirus did the best job for checking and deleting the viruses in the computer.
Panda and Norton antivirus are the big standard ones but they used to slow down the computer to dead speed while scanning and produced the same results as AVG, now who would want their PC to slow down when the same job is done faster? But when am on Mac, i never used any antivirus as i never feared of a Virus in mac. |

I have both kaspersky and bitdefender running at the same time. My father bought me a laptop as a birthday gift and it came with kaspersky internet security 8.0 pre-installed. Then I installed Bitdefender internetl security 2008. Bitdefender is much better than kaspersky without any delay of the system's speed. Bitdefender found something kaspersky missed many a time.... There you have it. Indifferent report.

Some days ago i was using only AVG free edition as my antivirus but my pc got infected yesterday by a whole bunch of trojans, malwares and annoying popups (maybe adwares) which unfortunately AVG could not removed. I soon searched google and downloaded Super Antispyware Free Edition which took about 2 hours to scan my pc and remove all the viruses. My pc is fine now(thanks to Super antispyware).
![]() I don't recommend using only AVG as antivirus software.

Well if you use windows they this problem of attacking of virus will continue and we always have to update our antivirus to protect our pc from attacks of new virus.
One permanent solutions would be switching your operating system to linux. As far as I know Linux is very much less affected by virus. Correct me guys if I am wrong?

I have tried almost all antivirus software that are being sold today. My best experience so far is with NOD32. But one day some spyware got into my computer and messed with my NOD32. NOD32 became useless and cannot be updated. I have come to the conclusion that just because you have an antivirus installed, it doesn't mean you are not vulnerable to viruses or spyware.

I've used both Mcafee and Norton and I never really noticed a difference but I didn't have any problems either..
Mcafee was a little annoying though as it seems to prompt you for everything while Norton didn't. So if I had to pick I would go with Norton. |

Look everyone , the anti-virus softwares were tested in US recently . And according to that report , anti-virus softwares like nod32, avance, avg, norton and few other popular anti-viruses are able to detect 99% of the viruses. So the difference between these will be in decimals, not very much. So it doesn't matter what anti-virus you choose. Choose anti- viruses like avg , avance which doesn't slow down your system. In that test Avance was the top scorer which was able to detect 99.7% of the viruses.

I use linux so AV is not a problem
![]() As far as the Linux/Mac = impenetrable thing, it's completely untrue, it's just that a small small minority use those OS, and linux users especially are usually quite tech-savvy, so making a virus for the aforementioned OS would be a lot less productive than making viruses for an OS that 90% of the world use But Linux is a safe OS, that's one of the many reasons it's the preferred OS for servers |

Go with Avast its the best out there, reaching from Zip scan to boot scan every problem solved. Detects any virus live and for sure. You can schedule a boot time scan to remove the virus even before your windows load. I am grateful to my friend Rohit for referring me to it.
