What do you think makes a successful life?

Great men like Bill Gates are successful in life because people consider these men very rich. In other words, these men are very successful because of the money they've made in this life.

My great grandfather however had no money but I still consider him a very successful man in his time. my great grandfather was a very successful man eventhough he had no money. My great grandfather had no shoes and he had no sandals but God made his foot so great that he he enjoyed going bare-foot.

My great grandfather had no money but he was everybody's friend and he died a happy man. He left no silver and he left no gold but his words still live on and everyone smiles once they hear his name.

My great grandfather died at a very old age and he died on his bed with family and friends surrounding him. He even told a joke just before he passed away just to make those around him laugh. He was everybody's friend. He had no enemies in this life. Maybe his only enemy was time but even so, my great grandfather died shaking hands with time.

What do you think makes a successful life? money? fame?...

I'd say money, love, friendship, stability, and women make a successful life.
Can't forget the most important one though, confidence I guess it's going to be different for everyone though..

I agree with Kofi. Success is not all about money but it is about realizing your true self and living according to what you truly are. You can manifest your full potentials if you discover who you truly are and that to me makes a successful life.

Well to have any sort of successful life you need good health, something I've never had the joy of. I have many chronic health issues. Health is something most that are well don't even think or care about, whilst me i crave for what all you's have.

The next thing is friends and family without them your going to be lonely, miserable and bored, you can have as much money as you want but if you have no one to share it with, its going to be a very dull life.

As the above money will help a lot in making you feel successful and giving you pretty much everything you need.

I'll second the above that confidence can make everything so much easier, getting jobs, getting a nice lady etc.

Money is like a bonus for living a successful life. Having plenty money without the right sense to spend it does not make you successful. Being successful is achieving your destiny and being who you truly are.

Being successfull in your life is when you live happily and have good friends around you. I don't see myself with lots of money of late but I can see myself happy with goodfriends and a lovely girlfriend. Actually I don't need money, like MOAB said, money is like a bonus for living a successful life.

I believe that the way of thinking at first distinguishes you from a group of individuals. Then comes your hard work and patience. Combining these two properties and adding a bit of luck is what makes a life full of success and happiness.

I think a succesful life is made out of several components that all have to be in balance. The components are individual and different from person to another.
In General i think it is very important to find real love /your soulmate(s). Financial Freedom is also an important thing.

But If i would have been questioned to answer in one sentence i'd say that the one who has a dream and fullfils it has had a succesful live.

I think money can make someone successul. I also think love, happiness, fulfulling your dreams in other ways, accomplishing your goals, and wisdom can make you very successful. I think we need money to live, but there are other things in life that are far more important. I think if you are living a prosperous life ...you have access to everything you want..you are well repected in your community ..you are satisfied with what you have earned from life..your heart and soul are contented..you are considered lucky among others ..only then your life is successful. I think that makes us successful is the confidence in ourselves. when we already feel that everything is adequate and we are thanked, it can be said that we have been successful.
but of course everyone has a different view, in general, people will assess the success of the materials such as money, house, car, etc

When someone overhauls Bill Gates tomorrow, he will draw the attention. The success that money brings you is temporary. After you die, if there's something good for others to cherish about you, then your life is successful. If you made someone smiles on hearing your name, or weeps on your loss, then your life is successful. All those things except these vanishes with your body into ashes. That's what i think.

Well, I respect money a lot because with money I can do great things. In fact with money I can do whatever I want in this life so a successful life to me is a life full of money. Without money, you can't even become a good Christian or a good Muslim or even a good Buddhist. Work hard and make money and you will become successful in life.

money is not everything. What you should seek is good name and not riches.

For me it would be attitude. Attitude to life. Some have a great attitude to problems they face and face them positively. Others are pessimistic and those same problems are of a greater magnitude to them.

your success to some people is a failure. for example, if what you needed were 10 beautiful cars and you got just one beautiful car, you might consider yourself a failure although there are many people outside with no car. Success depends on you as an individual.

I have to say that happiness and health are the most important things for a successful life. Yes, money is important, but money is not the most important thing. Poor people may also live very happily. In your opinion, they may be loser because they are poor. But in their opinions, they are successful. They are only lacking of money, not lacking of happiness

Money is an important factor when it comes to success but money isn't the only factor involved in success. Money may imply success in the financial sector but what about the spiritual, emotional, social, etc factors? Success involves many things besides money. I know some poor people who are very successful in life.

It is true that money can bring happiness but one thing we must remember is that, money cannot buy happiness. Having billions of dollars in your bank account doesn't assure happiness. being happy has nothing to do with money. The major problem is that most people don't know how to become happy and some even don't know what true happiness is all about. My grandfather had no shoes and he had no sandals yet he died a happy man because he knew how to become happy even in his poverty.

Success to me is not about money. success is great health and peace of mind. If you have billions of dollars and you are not in great health, I do not consider you successful. If you have billions of dollars and you don't have peace of mind then I don't consider you successful. If you are in good health and you have a peace of mind and also money then you are successful in life.

I love it... And I am blessed to read your answer! But one thing for sure is that: Many are perhaps ONLY AWARE (if already aware) OF WHAT THEY DON'T WANT IN LIFE. THEY DON'T EVEN YET KNOW OF WHAT THEY REALLY WANT! In my opinion (in whom a lot successful others would also surely agree) that many could not be successful because they don't know what they want in life. So how can one be successful (in the first place) if they don't really know WHAT THEY REALLY WANT. I am confident and certain that for one to be successful in life, it takes him a 0.01% SURE DISCOVERY OF WHAT HE/SHE REALLY WANTS IN LIFE. successful life depends on how accomplished and happy your soul feels. In other words what makes one successful is not just the money one has but also the internal peace one has. If you have money and you are not happy it is not a successful life. the best life will be having money and happy at the same time.
