In the olden days there used to be so many pymies in Africa but sadly they are almost an extinct group. The few remaining pygmies in Africa live very far away from modern man sometimes in the thickest jungles in Africa. Pygmies are normal human beings just that they are shorter and smaller than an average man.

Pygmies still hunt and gather in the jungle just like our earlier ancestors did. If you go to the jungle town where they live, the entire community look smaller than an average community. In other words, a modern man may appear a giant in a pygmie community. However, it is not that easy to find a pygmie community in Africa why because they live very far away in isolated jungles.

There used to be dwarfs in Africa in those days but unlike pygmies who are considered normal human beings (Pygmies are much taller than dwarfs), dwarfs in Africa were considered creatures with supernatural powers and some were even worshipped as lesser gods. Dwarfs did not live with normal human beings. They lived in isolated places in the jungle very hard to see them.

I just came across a post online about the world's shortest woman alive and wanted to share. The world's shortest woman alive according to the Guinness book of records is an 18 year old young woman from India by name Jyoti Amge . The happy "little" Jyoti you see in the picture is just 2 feet tall. According to the article, Jyoti suffered a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia.

Despite her height, Jyoti attends a regular high school and dreams of becoming a Bollywood star. According to Jyoti, she is happy to be the world's shortest woman.
