Unhappy Has Cancer Touched Your Life? My grandmother passed away

When I was at still home, I was fortunate enough to never have had any of my close family members or friends be stricken with cancer. Sadly, since I have been married for the last ten years, it seems like I see it more and more. When my husband and I had been married only about a year his aunt had breast cancer come back on her and she passed away two years later. In 2005, my grandmother passed away after only knowing she had ovarian cancer for about 5 months. This February we were given the shocking news that my mother inlaw has Hodgkins Lymphoma. And, then last week, we found out my husbands grandmother has skin cancer on her leg and may possibly have to have it amputated. This is such a heartbreaking disease. The pain and suffering that my family members has went through has been almost unbearable for them and us. I pray everyday that someday soon a cure will be found.

It's really shocking that some of your nears & dears are affected by cancer. Now many people are affected by cancer. And sadly the medicines developed for this disease is not good enough to completely erradicate it.If the cancer is at primary stage & it is diagnosed, then the patient would be lucky. It'll be curable only at primary stage.

When I was 19 I was told my father had colon cancer. He lived for 3 more years and then it beat him. I think in my case we were lucky as he was told when he was diagnosed that he had 3 weeks to live. I know they usually give you the worst, but I'm sure he lived beyond what they expected.

When I was really young my grandmother died of the same thing. At least now we do know it runs in the family and it's something we need to watch out for.

I feel we have been quite blessed too, where my mother inlaw is concerned. When we first found out she had Hodgkins, we were told she only had three months to live. However, afer more tests had been ran, her doctor seemed pretty certain he could get rid of the cancer with chemotherapy. Now, she's been taking treatments since March and they tell us the cancer is almost completely gone. Thank God!

I hate cancer! My father had skin cancer, my cousin had skin cancer and died from it, my aunt died from breast cancer and two of her four daughters died from breast cancer, one of my uncle's died from leukemia, my grandfather died from colon cancer, my aunt died from colon cancer, and now my sister has been battling colon cancer for the last two years.

I take care of my sister because she is getting worse and worse and can't take care of herself. My aunt calls me and knows how upset I am and she keeps telling me to prepare for the worst. It was her husband that died from leukemia.

I hate this disease.

this is the worst thing that could happen to any one. One of my relative had malignant tumor in his leg and he was at my home during course of his treatment. I have seen the pain related to this and it is not only the patient who suffers the people near him( family and friend) also suffers a lot.

I lost my grandfather to cancer. It wasn't so much the cancer, but the chemo. I always see commercials advertising drugs to help keep people's red blood cells up & none for white blood cells. My grandfather died because of the loss of his white blood cells. Pretty much the chemo killed off his white blood cells & there was no way of fixing the problem.

My grandmother passed three weeks ago. I got the call that she had gone in to the hospital on my 21st birthday. That night I packed a bag and went with my mom to the hospital. We were there for eighteen hours and she passed at 4:35. Exactly an hour after my uncle jimmy died of cancer five years ago.

Her last words to me was that she loved me and that I shouldn't cry.

There is now a lot of infighting between my aunts and uncles, over the will and what not, and it makes me so sad and so angry.

This woman (she was 64 and worked at the post office), who went to work the day before she went in to the hospital asked her children not to fight over her things. My mom is trying to keep the peace and it is breaking her heart. I am just angry and sad.

I keep telling her that one day when we get to heaven, she and I will get a hug and a kiss. Everyone else will get a Whipping.

I think about her in class. I almost called her to tell her about my trip to the gross anatomy lab. I inherited her sense of humor. I want it to stop hurting, but I am afraid that if it stops hurting I will have forgotten her.

I want to cry, but I don't want to break my promise.

i think i'm very lucky becoz there haven't been any of my relatives getting cancer. But i 've witnessed 2 frs of my parents passing away becoz of this disease! that's a real suffering Although cancer is very dangerous, i know it's still hopeful if we find it and have a cure sooner. Thereby we should care of our health as much as possible. Working hard is necessary to earn for life but health is necessary to work well and long. So be careful before too late!
