Default Women in Saudi Arabia are currently banned from driving

Women in Saudi Arabia are currently banned from driving because of the risk of creating 'sinful temptation' . I have never understood any reason behind this logic

It's always been a Wahabbi ruling that women shouldn't drive. They interpret Islam very differently to the more mainstream sects such as Sunni or Shia. It's just been their culture

Your thoughts ?

Default Re: Saudi women - should they drive?

Why shouldn't they drive? Oh that's right there husbands are not giving them enough attention or are totally rubbish in bed so these men don't trust there women enough not to cheat on them. I also guess it makes them dependent on the man who can drive and if the women wanted to get anywhere then they would have to ask the man who would then be in control. Again it's another one of them stupid religious rules to keep men in control and women powerless.

Of course they should be allowed to drive, even the need to debate this question is ridiculous. The only way Saudi Arabia will ever change is if it embraces democracy and completely separates mosque from state.

What does 'driving' have to do with 'sins'?
What if a women/ lady had to rush her mom/ dad or her daughter to hospital for an emergency does she have to wait for her man to arrive home?? does she have to watch her family die infront of her and not be able to do anything about it?? crap!

once , people thought that education is a sin because if women get knowledge then they will be powerful...knowledge was considered as a sin because it resembled power...especially if the women had to marry an uneducated man.

now they say 'that was exageration - takhalluf'...well i think banning the women to drive legally is just as bad...
