Everyone dies and that is the end of there life, it is the burden every human carries - we know were going to die at some stage - and it scares the hell out of any of us - no one wants to die.
Mythology and folklore - exist to explain in a manner ordinary folk understand - the world around them, and of course as a form of entertainment - remember without TV, MTV and the internet it was fairly much work work work, get married work work dead. So along comes a child "daddy why is grandfather being buried?" the obvious answer - to stop us all dying when he decays and to stop predators scavaging him - but the father answers "in the sky lives a god - he has taken him to live with him in eternal peace" Thousands of years later - a whole belief in that springs up - fear is responsible for it at the start, and probably some people sharing stories around and cheering each other up - over the years it twists and turns, it becomes something more - driven by fear people WANT to believe, as mankind spans the earth the story is fragmented, abused, changed, twisted, and dare i say interpreted by those who wish personal gain. Religion then becomes a weapon, a control and a safety net and an excuse. If there was no god the world would have to face up to reality of our own mortality, that some people are good in nature, and some really are nasty - that our whole existence is just a speck of sand blowing in the wind. Do you really want to push that onto people? Isnt it much better to let them believe in the fairy tales? Nope, at some stage you need to tell a child there is no santa, religion grew up forgetting the golden rule - its all stories, its about mortality and now its causing wars. Religion should be banned everywhere - and if there was no god - then the world would be a better place - what would i do differently? well i wouldnt post here with a decent reason why i think there is no god lol. |
