The reason that most Muslims are not as murderous as the prophet they claim to follow is because they know that killing, pedophilia and seizing booty is wrong. In short, almost all Muslims are morally superior to their prophet, those who follow Mohammed closely become either suicide bombers or preachers of hate like Osama Bin Laden. It takes somebody who is either crazy already, or brainwashed to become a true Muslim. Most Muslims are in fact very bad at being Muslims, if all Muslims followed Mohammed to the letter then the entire planet would be engulfed in perpetual bloodshed.

For more information, google 'prophet of doom' and read that online book by Craig Winn. His books guides us through the Koran and Hadith chronologically, thus putting the verses in the context of Mohammeds life. It makes quite a chilling read but it is a must read for anyone who wants to understand why some Muslims become terrorists and explains the spiritual, intellectual, and material poverty endured Muslims in countries where the law is either Sharia Law or based on Sharia Law.

I posted some Koran verses a little earlier in this thread, I suggest you read them as a starting point.

Again, I am not saying this to be nasty or because I hate Muslims. I don't hate Muslims, I hate what Islam can turn people into, I hate the poverty and pain it causes, I hate what it teaches, and I feel really really sorry that so much of the worlds population has been ensnared by a volatile doctrine.

Islam has many denominations (much like any other religion that's been around for a long time), most of those denominations downplay the majority of the nasty verses and strain to find alternative, more peaceful, interpretations of the Koran. They would not need to do this if Islam was peaceful already. They do it because the Imams themselves are disgusted with the booty seizing, the pedophilia and the genocidal rages, and indeed the childish rants. Yet these reformers of Islam will not admit to what they are doing... why not? Because the penalty for leaving Islam is death.
