The Bible and Ghosts, Poltergeists and Haunting

What does the Bible say about ghosts, poltergeists, and haunting? Is it true that the virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, has appeared on a number of occasions in the last two centuries bringing important messages from God? What does the Bible say about Apparitions?

In the olden days, Ghosts were considered to be earthly spirits who for one reason or the other couldn't join the other world or purgatory according to the catholic view of the time.

When Jesus was walking on the sea, His disciples thought he was a ghost. There are many accepted Marian Apparitions in the catholic church and in other

orthodox churches. What does the bible say? what do you think?

Luke 24:36-43 (New International Version) 36While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." 37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."
Matthew 14: 25-27 (NIV) During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."
1 Samuel 28 7 Then Saul said to his servants, "Find me a woman who is a medium, to whom I can go to seek counsel through her." And she replied, "It is an old man who is rising, clothed in a mantle." Saul knew that it was Samuel, and so he bowed face to the ground in homage. 15 Samuel then said to Saul, "Why do you disturb me by conjuring me up?" Saul replied: "I am in great straits, for the Philistines are waging war against me and God has abandoned me. Since he no longer answers me through prophets or in dreams, I have called you to tell me what I should do."
