Re: Relationship of Blood Sacrifice Religions.
It is true the Bible is all about the Jews. However, the more I learn about the Jews, the less I understand the Bible. In some parts of Africa especially in my country, any time you hear "Israel", some Christians respond "Kronkron" which means Holy. Most Christians in Africa today including even the "annointed" men of God believe Israel (the Jews) are God's chosen people and therefore holy. Some even think the Israelis today are the same as the Israelites in the Bible and hence consider even today's Jews holy. I used to think the same too until I got access to the internet just a few years ago. Although the internet has done so many bad things to the minds of people, this is one of the good things the internet has done for me. I have access to all these information free of charge something I never dreamed of.
I read it somewhere online and I've been thinking about it for quite sometime now. Abraham who is the father of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism was about to kill his only son to honor God. Abraham was about to commit "murder" for God. To an outsider(an atheist for a example), it was an attempted murder. Meanwhile, We the Christians, the Jews, and the Muslims of the world consider Abraham a very God-fearing man who feared God so much to the point where he was ready to offer his only son as a sacrifice to please God.
However, If you consider Abraham's actions from the other side, there is no difference between Abraham ready to kill his son for God or Allah and a suicide bomber ready to blow himself and some infidels up for Allah. Both Abraham and the suicide bomber believe they are doing it to please God or Allah but an Atheist may consider both men murderers.
At times I find it very difficult to differentiate between the actions of the Jews and those of my great grandfathers. My great grandfather offered goats as sacrifices to his god so his god may forgive him of his wrong doings and also bless him. The Jews in the Bible did the same. In some extreme cases, some tribal groups in Africa offered human sacrifices for similar reasons. The Jews in the Bible including (Abraham) offered human sacrifices too. Yet some people today consider the actions of my great grandfathers barbaric but that of the Jews, "obedience and honor". These are some of the things I don't really understand. The more I learn about the Jews, the less I understand the Bible.
"Today the Jew no longer accepts the killing of life for they no longer do blood killing"
this is also something I don't understand. They used to offer blood sacrifices to God but now they have stopped. meanwhile, I have never read it anywhere that God(excluding Jesus whom they rejected) told the Jews to stop their blood sacrifices. They are worshipping the same God who never forgave them without getting some blood in return (in the past) but now have refused to offer this same God the blood he loved so much. Meanwhile, the God they worshipped in the past who is the same God today never told them to stop giving him blood sacrifices.
Now back to Christianity. We Christians believe Jesus died to pay for our sins. In other words, Jesus' blood paid for us very similar to how the goat and human sacrifices paid for the wrong doings of my great grandfathers. Yet some Christians(including myself) believe my great granfather's actions were barbaric and that of Christianity, LOVE.
"...what, if any, relationship is there between the god of the Jews, the christians and Jesus?"
from what you have pointed out and from the little I know so far, there are very huge differences between the god of the Jews, the god of the Christians, and Jesus. Jesus said "NO BLOOD NECESSARY" yet Christians believe "NO JESUS' BLOOD, NO SALVATION". In other words, what Jesus said is the exact opposite of what we believe in.
I am a "Christian" and sometimes I have no other choice than to blindly believe and accept it as it is. Some may say I am a fool for blindly believing but I am not the only one. There are so many fools like me in the world today.
"the question becomes what shall we do with the words of Jesus?" This is one of those questions most Christians (including myself) would love to ignore why because if you try answering, sometimes you just complicate matters for yourself. On one side of the Bible, blood is very necessary. On the other side of the Bible, blood is very bad and unnecessary.
As Christians, it is a huge BLESSING to believe both sides at the same time and that is also another reason why most of us go crazy for no good reasons at all.
