I just read a very sad "death" story about a polygamous Afghan family living in Canada. Just after reading the story something crossed my mind and I will like to share.
The polygamous man in question (58 years old. picture attached) had 2 wives (the first wife 50 had 3 daughters. the second wife 42 has one son). The family moved to Canada just recently. According to the story, the man in question, his second wife, and his son planned and murdered the first wife and her 3 daughters and according to the man, his 3 (somehow westernized) daughters (19, 17 and 13)were going wayward. According to the man, the older 2 of the 3 girls were running after men while the little 13 year old girl continued to fail miserably in school. So the man, his second wife and his son planned, meditated upon and then carried out a "successful" brutal operation which killed the first wife and her 3 teenage daughters.
Just after reading the story, polygamy and Sharia law crossed my mind. I made a thread here a few months ago about the dangers of polygamy. In a polygamous family, no matter how hard you try and no matter the level of equality and love in the family, there will always be jealousy between the wives. So in this particular case, there is no doubt there was jealousy in the family. If there was no jealousy, I don't think the second wife would have joined in the plotting and murdering of the rest of the family members no matter what. In other words, polygamy breeds jealousy and jealousy breeds nothing but doom.
Also, from personal observations and from what I have read, in Islam (and the other Abrahamic religions), male children are often considered far more precious than female children. In other words, one male child in Islam is far more precious than even 100 female children. Not just Islam. there are similar problems in the Bible too. Although not often witnessed in developed countries, this is a major problem in most developing countries especially in countries like Afghanistan, India, Nigeria(the northern part), etc. where so many people have been brainwashed. The point I am trying to make is that, in this particular case, there is no doubt the man in question cherishes his one son more than the 3 female children combined. I don't think the man in question would kill his son if it were the boy behaving badly. Muslims cherish their male children more than the female children which is very bad.
Back to Sharia law. In Iran and some other Islamic countries, adultery, fornication, rejection of Islam, etc. are all punishable by death. In other words, if these girls were in Iran they might have been stoned to death already. However, in a country like America, that is not possible. The man in question is not westernized. In other words, he is a true believer and follower of the Islamic laws including the Sharia and he knew very well what his daughters were doing was punishable by death in Islam.
Some people including even the judges who are working on the case think the man is just crazy for murdering his own wife and kids. However, even in the court room the man kept mentioning Quran! Quran! which in some way implies, what gave him the "power" to do what he did has something to do with how he understands some of the teachings of the Quran to be. The point I am trying to make is that, the same way Abraham was ready to murder his son Isaac to please God, the same way this man murdered his family to honor his beliefs.
I am not trying to say the Quran teaches followers to murder people. The point I am trying to make is that, there are so many people who cover themselves with religion to the point where they feel it is a sin to even reason against anything they read in their holy books.
Not just in Islam. take for example the 408 American citizens (Christians) who died in Jone's town. They thought they were committing suicide to please God not knowing God hates suicide and murder. It was all due to stupidity and ignorance.
what do you think
