Islam and Terrorism: Islam a Religion of Peace?

most people talk as if Islam is the devil's own religion but the truth is that Islam is the true religion of Allah. Allah is the true founder of Islam not any human being and Islam means peace and love.

God is Wisdom not religion. You can love God without following any religion at all. Most religions in today's world preach nothing but hatred! Islam considers Christians and Jews infidels which explains the widespread of terrorist activities today

Islam has done nothing wrong so leave Islam alone. anybody who tells you Islam is violent know nothing about Islam. the west portrays Islam as the devil's religion full of violence which is all false. I am a Muslim and I was born a Muslim. All my family members are Muslims and we love our neighbors as we love ourselves because that is what Islam teaches. We don't hate Christians and we don't hate Jews.

"love your neighbor as thyself" The royal law of God! This phrase is contained in most every religion of the world. This is the Word of God from Buddhism to Mormonism and all religions in-between. However when a religion is formed around this law of life it is like a cancer surrounding a vital organ. It eats away at a vital part of the body until there is nothing left. The Word of God is destroyed and the corruption is now called the Word of God. All religion is man made while God, His Word and His will is spirit and truth.

Choose oh man the word of religion or the Word of God.

I don't hate Muslims but I hate Islam as a religion because Islam doesn't teach peace. Islam declares death on infidels and unbelievers so how can such a religion be a peaceful religion?

Hey Jiddo, you don't hate catholics but Catholicism as a religion because Catholicism doesn't teach peace? Catholicism declared death on infidels and unbelievers of their religion. Throughout the years the Catholic church killed hundred of thousands who did not believe as they do.
The Protestants did the same only they did not have the opportunity to kill so many.

Maybe we should dump all religions and follow our God given conscience to tell us what is good and what is evil. After all that is what we are going to be judged on in the end. Those who have done evil will be resurrected to damnation and those who have done good resurrected to eternal life.

Every human has been born with a conscience and therefore has no excuse for not knowing what is good and what is evil. After Adam and Eve ate of the tree of good and evil God said they are now like us knowing good and evil. Don't agree? Go argue with God.

Religion isn't that bad as you people see it. Religion has done great for this world. Without religion this world would be hell. Religion has its pros and cons but taking both sides into consideration religion has done great for this world. Religion gives hope to the hopeless and it gives people the sense that they belong to something great.

Then there is the god that says children are a blessing and others choose the god that says children are not, so you can kill them at will before they take their first breath and you don't have to hear them scream in agony. I could go on and on Dorthy but to be sarcastic in order to show my disgust for religion I will again quote your words: "Religion has done great for this world".

exactly what I think. Religion has screwed up the human thinking faculty that God gave us and has screwed God's desires and plans for man on this earth.

Israeli-Palestinian conflict is due to religion. what else evidence do you need to understand religion is evil.

It does't agree with terrorism

To start with, I understand that in every religion and denomination there are so called "nuts" or radicals that can and will perform terrible acts in the name of their religion. But what I don't understand is how someone can read the Quran and the words that are written down and tell me that it is a religion of peace, love and hope....

Qur'an:9:5 "Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war."

Qur'an 33:60 "Truly, if the Hypocrites stir up sedition, if the agitators in the City do not desist, We shall urge you to go against them and set you over them. They shall have a curse on them. Whenever they are found, they shall be seized and slain without mercy - a fierce slaughter - murdered, a horrible murdering."

Qur'an 8:12 "I will terrorize the unbelievers. Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes."

Unless I am misreading these direct quotes, there seems to be quite a bit of murder and death and dismemberment, not exactly what I picture as the poster child of "peace, hope and love."

How about a few quotes from the bible...

Psalm 69:28-29 "Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. But I am poor and sorrowful; Let Your salvation O God, set me up on high.

Proverbs 17:14 "The beginning of strife is like releasing water; Therefore, stop contention before a quarrel starts."

Exodus 20:12-17 (The last 6 commandments),

"Honor your Father and Mother"
"You shall not murder"
"You shall not commit adultery"
"You shall not steal"
"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor"
"You shall not covet your neighbors things"

With that being said I can honestly say that I do NOT own a copy of the Quran and I have not read the entire book. I am fairly certain that there are other quotes that could be copied that may have a more "peaceful easy feeling" to them, but the raw brutality and and violence in the above quotes makes me really question the true meaning behind the Quran.

Now for the kicker...

Why would Allah call for you to ("Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes.")

And why would God call for you to "Love your neighbor as yourself"?

It seems to me that there are many Christians and Muslims alike that perhaps don't read their respective religious writings like they should. I try to promote an air of tolerance for all religions, BUT COME PEOPLE, READ YOUR BOOKS!!!!! If you truly are a Christian or Muslim believer, what your religious handbook or books promotes will determine the kind of religious expierence you will have and the kind of aura that others will percieve.

Don't you think that if Allah cared for you as a person and as a human being he would be promoting for you to love and forgive your neighbor instead of asking for you to take their life and cut off their fingers and toes????????

I think that you are more hateful than all of the kind Muslims, Christians, and Jews in this world. Of course there exist many extremists and idiots that identify with ALL of the religions but you cannot blame the religion itself. You should read more reliable sources than that joke website you are referencing.

If you read the Qur'an within context, all of those "excerpts" are completely misleading and incorrect.

If you fear reading Muslim points of view on Islam, try reading reliable literature written by non-Muslim authors such as John L. Esposito, Professor of Religion Studies at Georgetown University. He is from a Catholic-Italian background and provides an unbiased understanding of Islam- minus the hateful uneducated opinions that you have.

That is the first sensible and absolutely correct statement I have heard in this whole discussion.

There is GOOD and there is EVIL. These are the two forces in the world that oppose each other. God is GOOD and the Devil is EVIL. Whatever is GOOD is of God and whatever is EVIL is of the Devil.

So what is religion? What is religion in terms of GOOD and EVIL? I think you folks have answered this question many many times in this discussion. Religion is a meeting place for GOOD and EVIL. Religion is the home on this earth for the spirit of GOOD and the spirit of EVIL. When a person sits in the home of religion he must choose his god, the god of GOOD or the god of EVIL. Most people who take up residence in the house of religion do not chose a god but will follow a little of both gods.

Of course religion is very necessary and will persist until the end of time. Now why do I say this? I myself do not say this but scripture says that the books will be opened on judgement day and those who have done good will be resurrected to life and those who have done evil will be resurrected to damnation. One way or the other except, if you are lukewarm, neither cold or hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth says God. Yuck!

So what is religion and what is religion not? Religion is a mixture of gods and a house of choosing. Religion is not GOD.

Islam is not a crazy religion. the problem is that some Muslims are crazy for religion because most of them are illiterates. What Muslims need now is quality education not more Qurans

The question itself is crazy. The answer is so obvious except that we are so brainwashed into political correctness, we cannot see it. Look at all the evidence. Read Quran. Look at the history of Muslim behavior. I am not surprised that a billion people can believe in Quran because a billion more politically correct non Muslims buy all kinds of non sense when they have a lot less pressure to do so.
