History of the Bible - The New and the Old Testament
History of Bible
There is no other book that has such a history as the Bible. History in fact is written in its pages. The Bible gives an account of life from the very beginning of time and continues through the end of time. Thus we have the most complete history of the world even before it has happened.
It is said that Moses was the one who put the first book in the Bible together. This is most likely true however the writers of the Bible have always been eye witness accounts. Thus we can find that the first man Adam himself is actually the first human writer.
At first the scriptures were the first five books of the Bible that recorded the history of the Jewish people. These books are known as the Torah today. Over time God continued to add to this book though through the prophets. Thus we see the books of Amos and Daniel as well as the rest of the old testament.
These books record the further history of the world including prophecy of future history. Bible scholars often still debate the truth behind the prophecies yet to come simply because until it happens we can not understand it in it's fullness.
Bible History New Testament
The new testament of the Bible is written after the coming of Christ. This gives us an even more clear view of the history of the Bible and world. Since again each book is written by eye witness accounts and they all say the same thing we can be sure of their truthfulness.
As time went on more people began to learn how to read so the Bible became accessible to more people. The problem was people spoke different languages. Translations were needed. Thus begins the controversy of the history of the Bible.
With each new translation the fear has been that the truth of scripture will be lost in that translation. This fear is in part due to how precise language is. For instance the word love in the hebrew language has many more words than the english language. To learn more about this see our Bible translations page.
