Hinduism as a religion-The world's third largest religion

HINDUISM: The world's third largest religion. I have been following Hinduism for the past few years ..i would like to know what you guys think about this Religion?

I am a Hindu too following this religion. This religion is massively followed by almost 80 % people in south Asian countries and a large contribution comes from India and its the main religion of India subcontinent. Hinduism is the oldest know religion right from starts of vedas.

I'm an indian and i follow hinduism.It has diverse gods and main gods are Shiva Brahma and Vishnu.Shive the destroyer,Brahma the creator and Vishnu the protector.

Hinduism is the majority religion in India, It is not a majority religion in any other country except maybe Nepal. Since the population of India is 1.2 Billion, they have become 3rd largest religion, not because of their influence or control of countries but because of high birth rate. Hindus should do something about this, if they keep going on like this, world resources won't be enough to sustain. China is very strict about birth-rates and slowly it is declining and they are powerful country again.

Hi Zhar. There are Hindus in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, U.S.A, Britain, Germany, France,Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia,Singapore and many other countries.

Hindus do not believe in influencing or controlling other countries, but in spreading thoughts and ideas, and receiving them as well.

India is a free democracy and not a dictatorship like China, where second born children are forcibly aborted at times. We have our own family planning programs , which have been successful, though it is not based on force like the Chinese , but on creating awareness and schemes.

Also in this context,it should be understood that the vast majority of the worlds resources are being used by the Americans and the western nations to an absurd extent, even though they are minority in the world population, leading to problems like global warming and stuff, which is already having an impact in the global climate.

A teaching by Mahatma Gandhi of India would perhaps help to bring some perspective...

Hindus are spread across the globe. But India and Nepal are the only two nations with majority of Hindu population. In India there are many other religions as well. India, being the major hindu nation very few of you might know the most wonderful fact about india that In the year 2007, The Prime Minister of India was : Sikh; The President of India was Muslim, The President of Opposition Party was Christian. So during the last 3-4 years, the Non-Hindu personalities were taking charge of India. This is the unique feature of India. However, now the President is Hindu.

yes ! as u said it is the third largest religion i agree. all religions givethe same thought "love & love others too". no religion hurts anyone. take the good value from the religion u follow & follow the in your life to your follow being. it is necessary to know about the religion that we follow. we r questioned we should be in a position to answer the opposite.

Hinduism is the oldest religion in the world. Dating back to over 5,000-6,000 years, at the times of Ramayana(Lord Rama). Although majority of hindus live in India, India is also composed of other religions like Sikhism, Muslim and many others, hence if you check in ratios, India might not be on the top list of Hindu followers.

Hinduism is bound by its class and caste system. Even today people from lower classes or castes are not permitted to go to the houses of upper class people or their temples. Women are even beaten to death for mingling, talking, walking, dating or marrying with some one from a different caste or religion.

hinduism is more than just a religion, its a civilization in itself. hindus are the decendants of Aryans. they were the most advanced people in the history, they wrote vedas, puranas and many other great epics. they are believed to be more scientific than we are today. they were the first to conduct open brain surgery, they had complete knowledge of nuclear weapons which they used even at that time, they had far better vision and understanding about the structure of solar system, their metallurgical skills were unmatchable, they were the originators of zero, decimal and also of some of the finest of the mathematical sytems...

i am a Hindu, it is a religion with the maximum amount of freedom of speech and expression. just to give an example it has almost 33cr. Gods which signify different elements such as air, water, soil, fire. etc. it is a religion which preaches non- violence and peace, it assures that if you have true belief, you can see God in anything and everything that is why even stones and cows are worshiped. it is so wast that it will take days months to go in depth.
