I watched some interesting videos on youtube today and according to one video I watched, scientist all around the globe are working very hard to make us immortals. Scientists are working all day and night to discover genes that can make human beings Methuselahs if not immortals. Scientists and philosophers have been talking about immortality throughout centuries but this age of super computers is making some of these dreams come true and in few decades to come men will live hundreds of years if not forever here on earth. Although the idea of living longer lives sounds great to me, I asked myself where would all these people live? Can the earth support that huge number of people? or is there going to be very strict population control mechanisms to check the population explosion? God gave us scientific knowledge to enable us cure diseases and also save lives. I don't think there is anything wrong with taking a paracetamol or Tylenol to lessen your pain. I don't think taking some vitamins to strengthen your immune system is a bad idea at all but I think there is something morally wrong with modifying human genes so we can be Methuselahs and immortals. What do you think?
In another video one American doctor was talking about genetically modified babies popularly known as "designer babies".

Designer babies according to the doctor are babies equipped with superior genes for good looks, intelligence, athletic abilities, etc. Doctors modify the tiny embryos removing all defects and then equipping them with these superior genes so that these kids are born superior beings with no genetic defects at all. Thinking about autism, epilepsy, and all the other genetic and neurological defects people face, this idea of designer babies may sound good to some ears but I don't think God will like this idea at all because it is morally wrong. What do you think?
