Funeral Customs Practiced today and the Bible

What does the Bible say about funeral customs practiced today? in order words, what is the biblical basis if any for the funeral customs practiced around the world today? In Africa for example, people spend huge sums of money decorating the dead bodies. Africans cherish dead bodies sometimes more than even the living person. When the person is sick for example, nobody will come near him or her but once the person dies, people from home and abroad will come and pay their last respect in a very grand style. Is it right to spend huge sums of money on the dead? If the body is returning to the earth as the Bible says, then why must we spend all these huge sums of money on the dead? What does the Bible say?
