Re: Does God accept/reject or save people?
I have been thinking about this question for sometime now. It is so deep to answer but I will try my best on the first part. I don't know the Bible very well but I sincerely believe God saves people. I also know God accepts good deeds and rejects bad deeds but I can't say for sure whether God accepts only good people and rejects bad people. I read it somewhere in the Bible that God rejected Cain's offerings and God also punished Cain for killing his brother Abel but I am not sure if God rejected Cain as a person for killing his brother Abel. If I am not wrong, rejection means having nothing to do with a person (or something) again. Rejection can be punishment but not all punishments include rejection. Even though God punished Cain for killing his brother Abel, God still marked Cain for protection so that no man or beast can kill him as he wanders restlessly for the rest of his life. I also read a story about Samuel and King Saul in the Bible. Saul disobeyed God so Samuel told Saul "...Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king." God rejected Saul from being king but I don't think God rejected Saul as a person.
I don't know much about Peter's first sermon but as you said the sermon was on salvation and after all the rejection of Jesus and the good news he brought and all the insults and punishments they rained on Jesus, there is no doubt people really needed salvation. But as for who done the salvation? I am not sure. If Peter's sermon was on the night Jesus died or the Saturday after Jesus' death then I would have thought the salvation came from somewhere else other than from Jesus because a dead man cannot save. But Peter's sermon was on a different date and Jesus was alive so the salvation could come from either Jesus, The Holy Spirit Jesus sent, or the Father up in heaven.
As for the message of salvation of Christianity today, there is no doubt most Christians (including myself) are confused.
