Can a true Christian/Muslim be a politician in today's world?

It is almost impossible for a politician to win an election in today's world without telling a lie or two. Those with sweet voices easily win elections with sweet tones full of lies. Most politicians don't feel bad lying because lying is "normal" in today's politics. They lie and continue lying to cover those lies they told earlier on and will lie to cover the lies they are telling now and they do not feel bad lying because lying is normal in today's politics. I don't want to use "some politicians" because you will agree with me all politicians in the world today tell lies in one form or the other just win elections and to keep their positions. Some even swear with holy books that they are going to tell the truth but they end up telling lies upon lies just to keep their positions.

The majority of politicians in today's world are Christians and Muslims. I don't think God hates politics but I do believe God hates lies and it is impossible to win an election without a lie in today's world. God does not hate politicians but God hates lies and today's politics is nothing but lies. So my question is, can a "TRUE" Christian or Muslim be a politician in today's world? I posted a thread here about Christians joining the army and I received several interesting answers so I will like to know what others think about Christians and Muslims in politics today. I am making this post because I just watched a video on cnn about an American Pastor campaigning to win a seat in politics and I don't know how he is going to combine Bible and Politics. Is he going to lie to win election and then preach to people on Sunday to stop lying?

Not just Christians, I have seen several Muslims fighting to win seats in politics and sometimes I ask myself how those Muslims manage to combine Quran and politics because there is no doubt Allah hates lies.

What do you think? Can a true Christian or Muslim be a politician in today's world?

I AM A MUSLIMS AND I TOTAL AGREE WITH WHAT YOU ARE SAYING ABOUT HOW MUSLIM AND CHRISTIAN ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO LIE. aLLAH (GOD) AND PROPHET MUHAMMAD ( PEACE BE UPON HIM) THOUGHT US THAT WE ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO LIE BUT I DO THINK THAT POLITICS AND RELIGION CAN COME TOGETHER. I THINK THIS BECAUSE WE HAVE TO ALWAYS STAY TRUTH TO OUR RELIGION AND THAT IT SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST. SO YES BE A POLITICIANS AND HELP YOUR COUNTRIES BUT DO IT IN A GOOD WAY, IF THIS IS DONE THEN I THINK THE WORLD WOULD BE PEACEFUL AND A BETTER WORLD.

YES A PERSON MIGHT NOT WIN WHEN HE DOESN'T LIE BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT YOU TRIED AND YOU ALSO DID NOT DISPLEASE YOUR GOD. BESIDES THE PEOPLE MIGHT SEE YOUR HONESTY AND TRUST YOU RIGHT AWAY AND SO VOTE FOR YOU. AND I KNOW THAT ALLAH IS ALWAYS THERE AND WHAT EVER BEST IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN .
