i just saw a documentary and in it African people are killing their children, in the name of religion.

they say their children are witches and demons.

Religion must stop. We need to start a group which encourages thought rather than blind belief.

belief is the most powerful thing that humans know.

I think we need to start meeting on a Sunday or so and missionary programs that are anti-religion.

Religion has the power to cause TOO much pain.

I'm sorry that you feel that way, but I can see how you have arrived to this conclusion.

REAL religions do not cause the misery and death you are describing, brainwashing cults cause it. When somebody is brainwashed, they believe and do things that a sane person with their full mental faculties would never do. Like how Muslims end up blowing themselves up for Allah.

I'm a Christian myself, and became a Christian BECAUSE of critical thinking. For me it would take more faith not to believe than it does for me to believe. Christianity does not rob people of their thinking ability, but false religions do. God wants people to love each other and coexist in harmony, he doesn't want people blowing each other up or killing babies... on the contrary that is what the devil wants.

Religion is a divider. Not the only one but a major one. It devides people in Northern Ireland. Each walled up away from each other. It caused the Spanish inquistions, where so many were burnt as witches. It was a means to devide Indians when Britian split the country into Pakistan and India itself. Now they hate each other. It's a reason why so many hate gays. A reason of conflict between Muslims, Christians, Jews etc. Whew. Do i go on.
And to be honest i find non-religious people the most tolerant of other people and their beliefs, culture, from my experience in this life. Which i believe goes against their teachings, or supposed teachings.

But i suppose it might give some people a sense of hope when no sense of hope existed before. Spose that can't be such a bad thing.

i agree that religion can blind people. i've been pushed to the point where im afraid of religion, though im sure im Christian. Id rather just hide from religion than blindly believe in something that has once corrupted people.
