Default Unemployment on the rise - Jobless rate all time high

Unemployment is on the rise and I am among those without a job right now. I worked at Johnson and Johnson as a sales rep and I was let go last week. Has anyone else been layed off recently? How are you dealing with it? I am still in shock.

This was obvious since recession had badly hit down upon us and we are just helpless. This is not the case with any one particular country, instead its a global problem and it needs to be sorted out quickly. Unemployment is on the rise and freshers are not getting job letters. Things are running out of control and its high time for some serious action to be taken.

Sorry to hear you lost your job. I hope you can find another one soon.

Unfortunately the unemployment situation isn't even close to ending. In the United States I expect unemployment to hit 15-20% in the next year.

Obama is not helping things with his new plan to jump start the economy. Credit is the root of the problem not the solution. I have no idea why he cannot see that.

Sorry to hear about you losing your job. Unfortunately, the same thing happened to me three weeks ago... I used to work fulltime in a fashion store, but since the economic crisis kicked in business started to slow down dramatically. I anticipated that they might have to let me go... but it still was a shock when it actually happened. How am I dealing with it? I guess i'm doing okay.. after all it wasn't my fault that I lost the job. Now its back square one going through the newspaper everyday and submitting applications. Anyways, good luck to you, i'm sure it will all work out!

I hope rmholla is wrong on the prediction. Analysts are saying 11% at worst. I do think it is worst than thought, but I don't know how much. I've had no problem working a low paying job with no benefits, but that's just the problem. A person getting paid those wages can't get health insurance.

I find a problem with the overall system. A flaw so big I guess, I don't know how to change. the economy basically assumes it's going to keep on growing forever, we build useless stuff with credit. Partially, I agree with RMholla. We can get credit flowing again, people spending stuff, creating jobs, but to what end? I recently joked around about there being a lot of resource to tap in labour if you had a good concept for employment, something that would create something.

I wonder if Obama isn't doing all the bailout because he sees that it is easier to turn a big ship around an obstacle than it is to have it come to a near stop.

Well, i think an unemployment rate of 15-20% is a bit too dramatic scenario. I am from Germany and we had major problems with unemployment in the 90s because of reunion with East Germany and it never really went over 10%.

At the moment we are loosing jobs here too because of global economic crisis and even in bad scenario i don't think unemployment will go much over 10% here in Germany and in the US too. There are mayor economic packages made all over the world. The economy will recover again in a few years.

Every year , lots of engineers are passed out. Therefore, the situation has now become that demand for the engineers is becoming less and less day by day. BE engineers are now ready to work in place of diploma engineers at the same salary. This has lead to huge amount of unemployment in almost all the countries.

Well, I got laid off two months ago. I use to earn around 5000 a week but now I'm getting like 9 dollars per hour which can't even pay my monthly bills but it is still better than none. I know a guy who got laid off on the same day with me but he is still searching for a new job with no hope of ever getting one. My wife too got laid off but fortunately for her, a friend of hers got her a new job better than before so let's say she is among the few lucky ones. Right now, it is not easy for me and my entire family. I have kids to support. My son is in college and He depends on me. The most painful part of it all is that, I tried getting a home loan but they keep on bouncing me here and there.

I joined the ranks of the unemployed in Feb, and haven't been able to find a jon since. I've looked all over the place and there just isn't a great deal out there. The jobs I have applied for I haven't heard anything back from these perspective employers. I hate been on the dole, it feels degrading to be living on state handouts but until I've got another job I really don't have a choice. During the boom the longest I was out of work for was... a week. It really does get me down sometimes, but I'm filling my ample spare time by visiting friends and family, creative writing, and surfing the net. Still, I will be glad once I finally get a job.
