Default The problems with Multiculturalism and Political Correctness.

As a citizen of the UK, I feel that I should speak up about the problems that have arisen as a result of becoming a multicultural country and having Political Correctness rammed down our throats by the media and education system.

As you may or may not be aware, the UK is having a problem with immigration, or should I say the complete lack of controlled immigration. Migrants from the middle-east are traveling unrestricted throughout Europe and landing on our doorstep requesting asylum. Many are arriving illegally and are being absorbed into the illegal jobs market, others are given government handouts and free housing. Because of the numbers arriving, a strain has been put on most of the major public services such as the National Health Service and the Police. Now that there is a recession, the jobs market has also been hit and there is not enough jobs to go around for the people already here.

If these were the only problems caused by mass immigration, they could be dealt with by stemming the flow until the country regains balance and economic stability. Unfortunately, the woes do not end here.

Many of the immigrants arriving are Muslims, and many of those Muslims wish to convert their town/city to Islam. A lot of the areas in which they settle have pretty much been turned into ghettos which are no-go zones for non-Muslims. Some of the immigrants have been calling for Sharia law. The problem here is that many of them do not wish to integrate and become a productive addition to our culture, instead they wish to change our culture to suit them. Of course, whenever somebody publicly points out these problems, they are immediately branded a racist by the media.

Now lets take a look at political correctness itself. It is based on the belief that all cultures are equal in value, and that on this basis, the criticism of another culture is an act of racism. Not only is this inaccurate, but it is a dishonest impediment to honest discussion and to finding a solution to the problems of multicultural Britain.

The fallacies in the politically correct argument are as follows:

1. A culture or religious system is NOT a race. Therefore the usage of the word 'racism' to describe a criticism of Islamic immigrants and their failure to assimillate into our country is inaccurate. Using a hot-button word like this is a cleverly crafted way of evoking emotions specifically designed to supercede rational thought.
2. How can all cultures be of equal value when they teach radically different things? For example, how can an Islamic system be morally the same as a western democracy? One demeans women, the other gives women equal rights. One uses barbaric punishments such as amputations and beatings, the other sends criminals to prison.
3. They say that nobody has the right to offend anyone. Offence is put on the same platform as actual harm. Yet there is a HUGE difference between the two. I would argue that people should be free to express their opinions even if said opinions are unpopular. This concept is known as freedom of speech, which should remain enshrined in law if honest discussions about immigration and multiculturalism are to take place.

The PC elite like to argue that they are all for equal rights, and yet when faced with a culture that does not give everyone equal rights, they choose to turn a blind eye. Where are the feminists when young Muslim girls are forced into marriages that they do not want? In truth they dare not speak out because when one ideal conflicts with politically correct ideology, then it is political correctness that wins out.

The side effect of all of this is that people are even now beginning to ask 'well how would you define British culture?'. I say that we are losing our identity as a nation. We are ashamed of our own traditions. A Christmas tree has become a 'holiday tree', and Christmas itself is 'winterfest' or 'winter holidays'. For heavens sake, How can we expect immigrants to respect our culture and successfully assimillate when we ourselves do not know what our culture is? Are we now so afraid of causing offence that our own traditions are something to hide away and be ashamed of?

Of course, all of these problems are leading to an increase in people voting for hate parties like the BNP. Seemingly we have learned nothing from WW2, where a hate party (the Nazis) was voted in because legitimate greivences of the indigenous German population were not addressed by the mainstream parties. If the BNP were to ever gain mass power then they could as easily commit attrocities like those witnessed during WW2 against the Jews. Except this time it would be the Muslims who would suffer, even those which have committed no crimes.

I will say to my fellow Brits: THE BNP IS NOT THE ANSWER. We must make the Conservative Party listen to us, address the mass immigration problem, educate the immigrants already here, be proud of who we are as a people and a nation, and most of all WE SHOULD STAND UP FOR THE SANCTITY OF FREE SPEECH. We should not bow down to political correctness.

Multiculturalism is not the same thing as multiracialism. I am FOR a multiracial society, but I am against a multicultural one because two cultures with vastly conflicting ideas cannot sit side by side. We cannot have a parallell legal system where there is British Law for some and Sharia law for another. It must be British Law that prevails otherwise unfairness and barbarity is the likely result.

I think that you have "spoken" very well. I really enjoyed this part:

"How can all cultures be of equal value when they teach radically different things? For example, how can an Islamic system be morally the same as a western democracy? One demeans women, the other gives women equal rights. One uses barbaric punishments such as amputations and beatings, the other sends criminals to prison."

that is exactly the question I keep on asking myself.
