Default The Mexican Drug War - drug dealers taking on the government

I live on the east coast of the United States but keep hearing reports of a major drug war (of sorts) being fought in Mexico.

Apparently the drug dealers are taking on the government and conducting mass slaughter at times. They have military arms so the cops and soldiers are having a difficult time fighting back.

There was a video on YouTube about Texans starting to prepare for the worst should the war spill over the border into the US.

I have no idea what the solution is in order to fix this. I fear that there is going to be massive bloodshed before all is said and done.

I too fear that this is going to get worse. Here's a few things I've heard. I've heard a few in the US are "up in arms" so to speak because they say Mexico wants to attack our Second amendment right to bear arms. Mexico says because of the US lax gun laws, we have many assault riffles on the streets that make it's way across the border.

What I find scary is that the place you'd expect to sell the drugs is in the US. We've done a crackdown in the US over the past few months that have led to 700 plus total arrests in drug smuggling. What's scary is that the sheer numbers we deal with mean they often get there way. I think I read a couple weeks ago about a Mexican Police chief who lasted a day on the job before being killed. Another resigned from threats. The local population is scared and have even done things themselves. It's a big problem.

On our side of things, keeping it out of our country, I don't think fencing the whole boarder is effective. I've heard of very long tunnels between our countries. Troops might be effective. Expensive, but maybe an option. The whole undertaking to control this might have too be massive.

Perhaps the US troops coming back from Iraq and other places could help. Usually, there is the problem of finding jobs after a war. With our equipment, I know this would be an expensive undertaking, funded hopefully mostly by Mexico, we could go down there, do some major investigating, fight the drug war. It would be fighting experience, I've heard there are Mexican Snipers near the border, we might loose some lives. I don't know what the best solution would be.

Certainly a heavy problem. I think it's on mexico's president to fight the drug dealers with their national army. Taking control of just a few municipalities or little regions will soon be not enough for the drug dealers and they will go for more, which can't be acceptable for the mexican government. They must attack these criminal organisations and defeat them before there power over the mexican people growth even more.

I don't think it's a problem of the united states. Of course they should secure their borders but no army or air force should act in mexican territory before the president of mexico calls for help or the drug dealers took the power over the national government.
