Default The Effects of Discrimination on personality development

Why do you think some people are discriminating those who they doesn’t understand?

I want to ask this question because I am very silent and am always hated by some people. I don’t really know what the problem with being silent. They are saying something about me being arrogant but don’t really see it that way.

First of all, I don't think any type of discrimination is right regardless of the reason. However, I think alot of it is because it goes back for generations. If someone comes from a family that has been very discriminatory towards others for whatever reason, it can continue on for years and years. I also think alot of it comes from fear of someone who is different. We humans have the tendency to be very judgemental just because someone is not exactly like the majority of us are. And, I also think that some of it is just plain ignorance. We don't want to take the chance to get to know someone, but would rather just turn the other way and pretend like they are the ones with the problem. Personally, I would much rather be around someone who is a little on the quiet side than someone who thinks they must be the center of attention all the time. I have known of people who would even go as far as to be down right rude to others just so they can feel like they have that control of everyones attention. To me, people like that have some unresolved issues that they need to deal with.

Thanks for your nice comments!

It made me more confident. Knowing that some people would not judge me because of not being like them certainly make me happy.

You're very welcome. I, myself, can be very quiet at times. Sometimes if I am in a crowd of several or even a few people I am more of an observer than a mingler. It's not because I'm not friendly, I'm just shy sometimes and like to watch what's going on around me and how other people are interracting before I jump right in. Then, once I hit that certain comfort level, I start to socialize more.

Like minded people comes closer to each other very quickly. In your case,It's not discrimination, rather than it's just a separation due to the non-matching of minds & thoughts.Once you mix with these people, your thinkings will be changed.

if some one knows you that you remain silent then he or she will never ever say that you are arrogant. And who really don't know that you speak less say you are arrogant, then you should not bother about them.
