Default Take the time to research the issues and vote

I'm just curious to see how many of us vote......

I tend to vote in major election years but not all of the smaller elections. If it's a vote on ballot measures I don't really care about I don't always take the time to research the issues and vote.

I know this is bad but I'm being honest here. So I'm curious to see if others share my bad habits....

People should vote on everything because unless you vote, we will end up with a horrible government. Ballot measures are not all that hard to become educated on. You just have to do about half an hour of research to take a position usually. I vote in every non primary election. I do not want to affiliate myself with a political party, otherwise I would vote in those as well.

Thumbs up Re: Voting - Do you vote?

of course I do vote!.. voting is not just your right it is also your responsibility as a true citizen of a nation. Especially during general elections, it is the duty of a true citizen to get involved and to help elect leaders who qualify for the job ahead. Do not vote for race or color.. vote for those who can get the job done. Do not vote because everybody is doing so.. vote because you want to help yourself and your country. Do not vote for the dresses and hair styles of the candidates but rather vote for what those candidate have to offer your beloved country. Do not vote for what they say but vote for what you think they can do.

I did not vote till today as it was the age that stopped me but as now am 18, i have every right to vote and show my concern as a citizen.
Once we reach the age at which we should vote, i think its good if you vote for the candidate who you think is the best for your country and fellow people in the country.

I have not done any major voting yet. While I am of age and I know I should be voting, I have no interest in voting since the kinds of ballot being portrayed so far does not affect me.

While I would have voted for the next president, I felt that it would of been a waste of my time because I saw how much support has already gone to the person I planned on voting anyways.

And yes, I know that every vote counts.

I absolutely vote, and follow politics as much as I am able to. Before Barack Obama came unto the scene, I gave more attention to my local and statewide races because that's where the average citizen can feel to effects of policy changes that a candidate offers. Since all other previous presidential elections up to this point have offered, at least in my eyes, just more of the same(no matter which party the candidate represents), I haven't followed them too closely. The election of Barack Obama has me believing that *positive* fundamental changes are indeed coming, and that some of his initiatives WILL directly have an impact on my life and the lives others as well.

I was first time voter this election, as I wasn't old enough beforehand, and I plan to vote from now on. It isn't exactly inconvenient, it's fast, easy, and important. And you have months beforehand to educate yourself on the issues.

Yes...I do vote and that too..every single time.

It is after all....the most priceless activity one can perform in a democracy. By voting, we are exercising our power to select the most able leader to lead our country.

When one does not vote, it is similar to putting his thinking power to shame. If one does not cast his vote, he also loses his right to question the functioning of his country and if the country goes into shambles due to poor or corrupt leadership, the person who did not vote is also equally responsible as the person who voted such leaders.

Regards,

Walker

I do vote, & find out sadly that whoever is not one of the 2 parties has absolutely no chance of winning any position no matter what person they are & their outlook on government. It's kind of sad that people think they can classify themselves to just one set of beliefs & think all of them hold true for them.

I do vote whenever I get the chance to. Electing their leaders is the people's right. But over the years, the polling process has been reduced to a farce, with choosing between rival candidates appearing to be a matter of choosing between the devil and the deep sea. That's one reason why with every election, I am getting less enthusiastic about casting my vote.

Many a times I find it pretty impossible to find any sensible candidates out there. All of the candidates have traits which I do not like. Even then I vote for the person I think is the closest one to an ideal candidate. Some times it is depressing to think of voting for the people who are not qualified for the position they are seeking.

zowie,
when voting I was in your position.
I am 20 years of age and gained the right to vote 2 years ago, according to the laws of my country (Bulgaria). Since then, 3 major elections took place.
None of the candidates suited my political convictions.
Yet, I voted. And I will continue voting, no matter that I am aware of how corrupt the political class is, how ideology and principles have been put aside in the name of greedy profit heap and so on.
Voting is my right - as a CITIZEN. And rights are to be exercised.

Yes I vote and I think it is everyone's duty to also. However I feel that if you are just randomly picking someone and don't know their opinions, then I think you shouldn't vote. Also I think people that complain about the president, but didn't vote, should not be able to talk. You should have voted if you don't like our current president!

I voted for the first time this election. It felt really good to actually do something, not to mention taunt my friends when they voiced their opinion but they weren't old enough to vote :p Mean but funny.

I agree with r1superman completely. It's bad not to vote, but to randomly pick someone to lead our country is even worse. The worst thing would be to get a nutjob in office because no one listened to the campaigns and just flipped a coin to see who they would vote for.

i never leave a chance to vote as it is my right to to decide and select for myself. i live in a democracy and it's very foolish to let go such a previlege by which we can exercise control over the country even if indirectly. i highly recommend to use your right as it is also help to your nation.
