Should child marriage be legalized?

This is wrong on sooo many levels.

Absolutely not. Children under 18 years of age aren't fully developed yet, and they cannot speak for themselves. If we legalize child marriage, we will just be feeding the fetishes of child molesters, and the likes of such. Children need to be protected, because they do not have a voice for themselves.

I don't think men understand just how dangerous pregnancy is for a woman at any age and even in technologically advanced countries. Women die every day giving birth.

The marriage / rape issue is mind boggling, how anyone can possible fathom a connection between the two is completely illogical.

One point that the poster made was that it isn't against the laws of nature or some such point.
I'm pretty sure it goes against the laws of nature for a 30 year old to stick his **** into a 9 year old? It's disgusting, because the adults usually insist on consummating a marriage.

every one should be under supervision who have much brains will understand it and who doesn't have even god cant change them . i guess child marriages have advantages and disadvantages too. child marriages should not be done compulsory so that people who don't like it may ignore . so i guess its a better way if we leave this matter to ones family.. till the time they r not forced to do anything which is against their will...

There is a problem with that, though.


1. Number of Divorces would increase due to the fact of finding the wrong person
2. If it happens before puberty, people will not have the understanding and their emotions are not as developed

It would seem like a sort of good idea except for the fact that there is likely there's gonna be more divorces due to the fact of finding the wrong person or wrong match.

Also some children could end up being sexually abused... especially in countries where women are second class citizens anyway. The only thing child marriages will satisfy is the perverts who want legal access to molest minors.

I have to Agree with the Points that DaughterUK has posted.... (See her post quoted above) When It comes to children, yes I beleive the age of consent should be lowered, but not child marrage so young. In America, yes I believe sex is becomming more mainstream all the time. I remember talking with the other kids in high school and a lot of them had lost their virginity before their junior or Senior year. Now this was atleast 12 years ago, and if trends continued the way they did back then, it's mind boggling.

In fact let me use an example. Jamie, a female friend in highschool, lost her virginity at Age 16, as Did another friend named Lisa. Now the two of them lost it in different ways. Jamie was promiscious, and ended up loosing it to an older guy who was in college, where as Lisa lost it to.... an object.... I'm not going into what object, because that's not the point here.

The point I'm making is that both girls went on to live normal enough lives. I think Jamie may of had an abortion during high school where as Lisa... well... she wasn't very popular because of the way she looked.... ANYWHO, I'm pretty sure both of these girls went on to live normal lives....(Not that i've seen them since) but it would have been easier on them to both fit in if they hadn't had the laws and rules of american society telling them that the age of consent was 18 (Or rather 17 since they were in NY state.)

No, that idea is very stupid. At age 13-17, you are still a child. does it make sence for children to reproduce their own children? how can children that are still being feed by their parent creat another? who gets to feed their offspring? NOBODY. The person who started this thread is ill in the head and needs serious help or jailed. children are called children for a reason, if they are old enough to marry, they are called adult and just because they are can reproduce doesnt make then mentally adults. The governments needs to stop this from going on, this what makes countries poor and poorer.
