Question Residual Income - Online writing projects

Hello, all! I have been earning quite substantially from my online writing projects but I am really interested in having a residual source of income. Any recommendations, ideas, insights on this one? I'll greatly appreciate it if you can give me some very good ideas on how to choose a very good program. Thanks!

C'mon please people...any idea will be welcome. I am serious about this. I am quitting my day job for good in about 6 months and I need some extra income aside from what I earn from my writing gigs. Thanks.

Well jessica, do your writing projects include the kind of sites where you put articles up and then share part of the ad income?

If not, that may be a consideration. I've made some money that way at Triond and Xomba.

Thumbs up residual income from writing

You can consider Associated Content, Helium, and Hubpages to name a couple more. Please PM me to use my referral.

You can write free short articles on a website with affiliate links on them, but that takes a bit of website design to get it right. Great affiliates can be found in Commission Junction, Linkshare, and ShareASale for example.

Spreading out your income streams this way helps you not depend on just one source. Try not to focus too much on search engine results and more on quality and assoicating with good sites. Understand terms like 'follow' and 'nofollow.' Nofollow sites are not so good, except that may not really matter when your comment or link to an article is on a very high traffic website.

The Internet is still in it's infancy. Are you good at providing 'how-to' type instructions. This format is becoming more popular now, especially when using videos. If so you can consider eHow.com site. The company that owns that site has 64 other income streaming sites as well. I study all this stuff across the web all the time trying to keep up in my ever changing technical career.

Please PM me for referrals to these sites, and more, I'm signed up with for more details. I'm glad to share all the information I can, and keep you up-to-date with more that I learn if you are interested in keeping in touch. More new income ideas come up everyday. We need to share with each other in order to really take full advantage of them.

I would say that you should continue to do what you are currently doing. Seems to me you are making some money doing your writing projects. Just focus more on this and I'm sure you can make some good money.

To have some residual income then you have to build a site and then work on its SEO at first. This is such a hard thing but if your site becomes successful then you will find out that you don’t need to work as hard as before.

The only residuals we see in our family is once or twice a year when college sends a check to buy a few pencils with!

What you need to do is start charging you clients more, maybe not all if you're not willing to lose all your clients.
However I find raising prices to what you're worth the way to go. Also consider writing bigger projects as a ghost writer for great money.
Maybe you can consider making a few affiliate sites with add and what not or making another service such as a video creation service. All the best with your search for money online!

Default You could be working as a domain hosting reseller.

You could be promoting your writing skills on your website. For the purpose, you could be hiring the services of a quality web host. Reselling web hosting space from the same vendor could be an option. Believing in the service you are promoting often does wonders to your business, and if you are actually using it, it's even better! Hope that gives you a few clues.

First Jessica, let me congratulate you on quitting your job and leaving the "rat race".

Now when you say residual income, do you mean, a stable work at home type job, or do you mean creating a cash flow that would create money for you without you having to be there directly?

If you're looking to just create somewhat of a "stable" work at home job, then I would suggest simply expanding your writing services. A lot of people have already posted on how to do this.

If you mean the latter, then I would first recommend reading and educating yourself on creating a cashflow. Some books I would recommend are The Richest Man In Babylon, the Rich Dad, Poor Dad series, and the "Dummies" books on investing. You can also try message boards that would help you determine the best route in creating a cashflow for you. Some ideas that come to mind are buying and selling domains and starting an online business with the use of drop shipping, there are tons more. Let me know if you need some more ideas.

Default Residual income your say?

I am a newbie, just discovering this site.. hi all.
Regarding Jessica's question, I am in a MLM company, as an independent distributor of the company's produce. They drop-ship to 10 countries at present. Residual income comes into play after you have sponsored other "active" distributors(a binary system operation) and been active in purchasing the product for yourself within every 4 weeks. The company is a little more than 3 yrs old and said to already be a billion dollar company.
To join the company will cost you less than $50 and to keep an active website will cost you $10 a month, first month free/second website free. To get your home-based business off the ground it will cost you about $300(including amounts mentioned prior) up to $500 HONESTLY. Otherwise, if you start out with only the $39(startup kit) to $125 range to get going, it will be a few months maybe before your business takes hold and grabs others attention. There is however, plenty company support via open meetings, webcasts, conference calls, plentiful websites to stimulate your drive to keep pushing ahead. The product is of the Health & welness classification.
To know more Jessica, email me, if you haven't already figured out what I am promoting? Marketing is a crucial factor in home-based business, without it, around 97% fail within 2 years, I hear.
