Some prostitutes make a ton of money on selling their bodies. If you tried to tell them to stop they'd probably tell you to get lost. Some make 1-2 thousand a day. Lots. Others on the other hand make very little plus they have to split most of it with their sponsor(Sugar daddy). Sucks!
But on the whole i think it's up to the individual to decide if they want to do it or not, as long as they are not below 16-17. That's wrong.
They provide a service and get paid for it. With Full legalization they might earn more.

Prostitution is not a profession. Prostitution is an act of stupidity and ignorance. No hardworking person in his/her sound mind will go into prostitution. As for being the oldest profession, NO. The oldest profession is farming. Farming is so old that people do not consider it a profession. Sow a viable seed and water it regularly. Wait for a few weeks and reap what you sowed. Only lazy and morally unsound people enter into prostitution and call it their profession. Once again, I think prostitution is a mental problem and not a profession. The so-called legal prostitutes are nothing but 'mental patients" and most of the so-called law makers who legalize prostitution are those who love power and fame more than wisdom.

The world oldest profession is hunting not farming. And those call prostitutes as a profession, seems to be living in some other world. Whose mind just start with this line and ends up on this. Those who go for prostitution can't do something, so they just chose excuse, hey we are poor or what ever.. farmers, workers, and others might be more poorer then them. But they earn money.. while prostitute sleep for earning.. Other poor worker might become rich some day in their life, but prostitute or beggars can't !! they will always remain like this..
