Piracy In Poor Countries - all third world countries

Piracy is not taken seriously in most if not all third world countries. You can buy pirated software, movies and games publicly and not worry about being caught at all. I think it is acceptable. If not for those pirated stuff, the internet would never be as crowded as it is today. And basically there would be a huge IT gap between first world and third world countries. What do you think?

Well, I don't live in a poor country. It's a pretty rich country, but you can still pirate the hell out of things. People sell all kinds of pirated movies, games and all kinds of things, but the law does nothing about. They just figure they'll get even more money. People buying empty dvds, cds for burning stuff. Also the product gets more mention because of it and people who don't burn stuff they'll buy it because their burning friend told them the product is very good.

Piracy is wrong and a crime but I don't see it ever ending. It happens in every region of the world but is far more common in poor countries.

I'm not sure how it would be possible to stop, tougher laws wouldn't matter if even basic laws aren't being enforced.
