Post Interracial marriages bring people together

Do you think that inter-race love marriages can remove much of the prejudiced divide in our present society? Do you think that as humans first and foremost it is our birthright to marry anyone we love regardless of color, race, religion and even in some cases - sex?

Don't you think that it is important for all cultures to truly intermingle?

Please give your thoughts on this, as I believe that a positive viewpoint will ensure that our future generations at least get these opportunities which we lacked to a large extent.

I think there is still a lot of prejudice in many cultures, and while I wouldn't want to prevent anyone doing what they believe is right for them, I would want them to understand that it would make life more complicated for them and especially for their children. It can make the issue of identity difficult for the children especially if they do not feel truly accepted by either community. My daughter (17) has a number of mixed race friends, but some of them have suffered very unkind treatment and name calling, and it has been very difficult for them.

" Do you think that inter-race love marriages can remove much of the prejudiced divide " . . .

It depends, if it's used as stated above then no, love should not be based on
a political agenda, or promote a social cause, it should be based on who we
are attracted to, and by the same token if there's no attraction one shouldn't
be made to feel guilty about it,we can't help who we're attracted to, hence
if we have a certain preference then it must be understood there are primal
mechanisums at work that were meant to be used, and we are born with
them, to deny them cause one is afraid they 'll be labeled a racsist is doing
a grave injustice to both races and the beauty of love it self, and insulting
i might add to the persons involved all the way around. one doesn't marry
some one to prove a point or think there gonna aliviate the problems of the
world, in doing so, they are sadly mistaken, love is an entity unto itself and
has a way of turning on it's abuser . . . do i beleive in inter racial marriage?
i beleive in love, which means anything goes if the heart say so, it's the one
thing that can't be denied for any reason, people can fool each other,
and even them selves, that is untill the heart steps in and show's,
who the real boss is . . .

The overriding factor that makes racism possible, is the ability to tell people apart at first sight. Interracial marriages, and the children they produce, will slowly remove that ability, creating an atmosphere that cannot sustain racism.

Interracial marriage is the best tool against racism!

Thanks for so many valid responses. This question had it's basis in a debate which has been argued over so many times. I think, a society which accepts mixed races is the most open one. I think it is also without doubt that inter-marriages involve a lot of risk especially with regards to 'identity', but if we have it in greater numbers then it would solve a lot of the racial problems we are having now. I hope my generation takes the lead in this. Let us recognize humans as humans.

I have heard of many people being bias against a specific race and when their child marries one has grandchildren, their views being to dampen and change. This may help in some cases, especially in the grand long scheme of things.

I think interracial marriages are one of the signs that ignorance and racism can be broken down in societies. Even if it's still a difficult thing to have both family sides get used to at this point it helps lead to the break-down on intolerance when people are forced to see other people as human and part of their own family.

I don't see anything wrong with inter-race marriages. Everyone has a right to choose whoever they want to spend the rest of their lives with. We see more of inter-race marriages nowadays since many people are immigrating to other countries and marrying into different races. I've seen some families get divided because of inter-race marriages and it's a big problem that they don't communicate. Lots of stigma abounds, sometimes within the family or in society. It may be easy for some and harder for others to adapt.

True Jaye...actually in my country India, inter race marriages have been going on for quite some time though thats still a small percentage but it is increasing now. Arranged marriages succeed because of familial support and if this same support is extended to the inter-racial couples their success rates also will go up. It's all about society accepting this as a whole.

Here in the Philippine inter-race marriage is just a common thing. I have notice back when I was teaching that a lot of my students have some been produce by this inter-race marriage. I think that this is a good thing because it would further develop our looks.

Sadly, I don't think we will ever be able to remove prejudice from our society. I personally don't have any problems at all with inter-racial marriages. I feel that if you truly love someone it goes way beyond their skin color. However, I do agree that it does bring forth difficulties for the children of those marriages. I wish it didn't because it is just plain wrong for innocent children to be treated in this way.

I have to admit, I am against inter racial marriages. I think every one should be proud enough of their race to marry within their race. If one of my children married another race, sure, I'd still love them and would love their spouce and especially any children they have. After all, their children would be a part of them and their is nothing that could make me stop loving my kids. I'm not a racist, in fact, I'm very much against racism and will not tolerate anyone spewing it in my presence. I just think that race tolerance ought to come about a different way than inter racial marriages.

I think inter-race marriages are on the rise now that society is becoming more open minded (at least this is the case in my country). The younger generation are more open to the idea of inter-race marriages while the older generation still find it slightly hard to accept. But its a good thing that people nowadays care less about the difference in our skin colors.

I think this is making a huge difference in current society. Especially when children are born mixed race, which is becoming more and more common. It blurs the perception of ethnicity, and allows people to be raised in multi-cultural homes, making it easier to accept and relate to others along the way.

Besides, you won't find anyone who is "pure" race any more, however much they try to pretend. There is always some kind of mixed blood along the line, which is what makes racially motivated movements so utterly ridiculous. No one is pure anything.

well, there is no doubt inter-racial marriage is a great way of bringing people together. If not for anything, inter-racial marriage has produced a United States president.. Barack Obama is both black and white.

I don't know why this issue is being made a big one. There is no such hoopla about interracial marriages. any body and everybody has the right to marry anybody he wants. And yes, these are bringing people rise up from social barriers of society and come together as one !!!. Let this continue !!

I don't see why this should even be an issue, but unfortunately it is. The children still have the same problems sand although it may change the minds of a few people close to the family i don't think it makes much of a difference, unfortunately.

im in an interracial marriage. well yes it does bring people together but not in the way you think.

when i was younger i was never racist. i thought everyone was the same, didnt know much about history and didn't hate anyone. so when i met my husband ..well him being white was nothing really to me lol... i so hope he does read this.

anyway over time the world makes you racist.. in my case that is.

im not very racist but more than i was before. how my interracial marriage brings me together with other races is this....

as much as i can say i hate white people for what they have done in the past ..or what they do (in my mind).
i lovvvvvvvvve my husband. i love him so much, so i cant hate white people cause i know that he is white, and he is literally the best person i know in the world.

wayy better than me in fact.
so yea that's my 2 cents.
