Illegal Immigrants in the United States of America
I came to America as an illegal immigrant with the hope of finding a better life in America because back home is nothing but hell. I sold almost everything I had back home just to get my visa from the connection man. When I first came to America, I couldn't get a job since I was an illegal immigrant and there was nothing I could do because I did not even have a social security number and I used to work with my friend's social security number so that at the end of the year, he files his tax returns and gets everything deducted from my pay checks but that was better than staying at home. I had no access to food stamps and no medical care. Anytime at all I go to the hospital, I had to pay huge sums of money just to get treatment. It is not easy to live in the United States as an illegal immigrant especially if you don't know anybody in the United States who is ready to help you. I was very lucky because of my friend who was a citizen by then. He helped me a lot and he worked very hard for me to get my green card. My question is that, the United States of America is full of illegal immigrants and since the government cannot send all the illegal immigrants back to their various countries, what is the government doing to better the lives of the illegal immigrants in the United States? Remember that an illegal immigrant is a desperate man and is ready to partake in any illegal activity just to survive and the major problem of most illegal immigrants is the fact that we all have families back home to support and hence most illegal immigrants will go to any extent just to be able to support him or herself and his or her family back home. Since the government can't send all illegal immigrants back home, why doesn't the government give illegal immigrants working permits to be able to at least work and support themselves and their families back home? this I think will prevent illegal immigrants from partaking in illegal activities just to survive. What do you think?
