Has present Financial Market turmoil affected you?

The financial markets world-over are in a great mess these days.

All the investors...be it small or big have seen their wealth accumulated over couple of years reduced to penny in matter of months.

People have actually begun to lose faith in investing in equities and are again turning to traditional safe-heavens like Gold and are looking to exit from equities completely.

Is this also what you are doing? if yes......think again...

Equities as a class should never be sunned completely. Of course, we do have ups and down in every field. People should rather invest when there is blood on the street and exit when the whole world is euphoric.

I know...it is easy to say and very difficult to practice...but then.....fortune does not come easily....

The present financial crisis is effecting every country and their people, the only good thing from this being the low prices of crude oil. Also some developing country trading in dollars are at an advantage.

The best example is Indian rupee. one dollar selling price was 38 rupees some months back, now its 48 rupees the difference is huge and advantages to some Indians.

It has effected me in a very good way right now. I am still in college so in reality as the economy goes down the money that I am going to owe on my loans is going to be less and less valuable. While the economy is headed down is the best time to be in college.

Being a person who works an enormous amount in advertising and internet marketing my investments are actually making me more money. People want low cost solutions and are willing to use their credit cards to make sure they can get them. After all, who wants to pay more than you have to for anything, especially in the times of a bad economy. Sales are down slightly, but things will go back up, I am sure of it!

I have suffered some but not as much as others. I feel for those that are trying to buy or sell a home or car because a lot of loans are still not getting approved.

This will trickle down to people in related industries since people won't need to furnish thier new home or make minor repairs and upgrades.

Pretty much everyone will be affected in some way

People will be laid off, us or our family/friends could be one of those. And even if we don't get laid off, others will, and thus the work load will increase
Products in stores will rise in price, stores around us will close down

The market meltdown hasn't affected me, personally, but it has affected members of my immediate and extended family.

The hospital that my mother faithfully worked at for over 15 years went bankrupt and all of the hospital's employees and staff lost their jobs. She has since found another job at another hospital, but she has to basically start all over from the bottom up again in terms of salary.

I unfortunate have an uncle who is very, very close to losing the home that he lived in for over 20 years after he refinanced it a short while back. I also have elderly family that have seen the value of their retirement accounts literally lose half of their value. So all in all, we have been affected by the financial crisis as of late

The meltdown in the markets have affected each and every person. if not directly then indirectly. If you had invested in Money in Equities you have suffered alot. If you had put in debt (Bonds, Papers) etc. then also you have suffered. If you have put your saving in Bank, then also you have suffered, Its inflation and Credit Crunch that has taken alot out of your savings. Also the mortgaze part. It is very harder now to take the mortgage. So everyone if they have invested or not. they are affected directly or indirectly.

I don't really feel the effects of the financial market turmoil right now since I am just an ordinary working middle class. I see that the gas prices are still the same, the groceries I paid are still the same, everything is still the same, no sigh of great loss yet. Although, I know that those running the economy are really having a bad time as seen on television and that I know that the economy is not doing that good because I don't see some progress around me also, this is my layman view on this topic.

I am really very badly affected by this turmoil..since I am a day trader and trade the stocks...day in and day out....

The present crisis has deepened so much that it has affected the valuations of even good stocks to unheard and crazy levels...

One finds value everywhere...but no buyers to see them !!!!

I find it really odd that people rush to but these stocks when valuations are high and run away from them when they are cheap....
Just try and figure out...will one do the same on any merchandise they buy....In fact reverse happens there...on a sale sign..one would see long queues to buy them !!!

Yes it has affected me to a certain extent. My work prospects have reduced in the recent months and the wages I am being offered has also gone down significantly. There is a slight increase in prices of food and other essentials also. So my earning potential has gone down a bit and purchasing cost has gone up. So it is life a two pronged attack!!

Hmm.. no, I am not affected by the global economic situation, at least not directly, But when the gate rate is becoming weak, it has influenced me because I receive amounts of money in dollars and I have to convert them to the same currency used in my country so I'm getting less money.

yes, it has greatly affected me... the prices of almost everything, the groceries, fuel/gas, just about everything sold has all gone up. Everywhere we look and everything we do are affected by the turmoil in our financial market. We hope that our leaders can find a way to solve these problem sooner. I just can't imagine what might happen in the next generation.
