Extreme Poverty and Hunger in Pakistan

If not car bombing at the market place, suicide bombing in the mosque. These are the kind of headlines Pakistan makes almost every single day. Pakistan has a population of about 185 million people with more than 60 percent of the 185 million people living in rural areas. Majority of the rural population are poor subsistence farmers who grow crops and rear animals just to feed themselves and their families. According to facts and statistics, more than 55 percent of the Pakistani population live in absolute poverty some with nothing at all to eat and many with no place to lay down their troubled heads.

Illiteracy is a major problem in Pakistan today. Illiteracy rate in Pakistan is around 60% with many children of school going age out of school. Political instability and religious extremism are destroying many lives in Pakistan leaving many with little or no future at all. Poverty in Pakistan has the face of women, children and the elderly.

Just a few days ago, heavy monsoon rains have worsen the situation leaving many homeless and the rest drowned yet there is little international communities can do to help because Taliban and Al qaeda are ready to blow off any plane they see in the sky including those delivering aids to the needy and the desperate. What do you think? What is the future of Pakistan? Is the world doing enough to help the Poor and the Needy in Pakistan?

This is very sad. I saw the flooding video on youtube and it was heartbreaking to see so many people homeless and desperate people waiting for aids. Because of Political instability and religious extremism most of these parts of the world are very poor and people are suffering very much but the world don't see it that way and so those people don't get the help they need to survive. I pray the world help Pakistan out because people are suffering very much in Pakistan today

If the gods have only heard the wish of each one who speaks to him, than the Taliban and Al qaeda should start to worry, as the gods will become angry and then they will have no where to flee.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. People of Pakistan have donated food to Africans in Somalia and Ethiopia during recent famines and civil strife. But, ungrateful people will not acknowledge a good deed, instead take news items out of context and present them as reality. I invite you to come to Pakistan and challenge you to find a single person starving. Yes, there is poverty in Pakistan, but, the system of collective social responsibility under the Islamic tenet of Zakat, keeps people from starving. If one is poor, one can get a square meal in the "lungurs," or soup kitchens of thousands of Masjids doting the country. Kindly have your facts straight.
