Unhappy Do you trust someone/somebody to protect you?

I always try to protect myself because I don't usually trust someone to protect me. Life in the western world is quite different from life in Africa. When you live in a country like the United States then you could trust the police department and other protection agencies to protect you. The New York State Police Department(NYPD) for example is very equipped and very professional. Just dial 911 in case of emergency and you will get help as soon as possible if you live in New York City. The Policemen and women in uniforms do their work very well in the western world because they are paid very well and are also equipped with the skills and machines needed to perform their various tasks. This is however the opposite in the third world countries. The men and women in uniforms get no proper training and lack the skills and machines needed to perform their various tasks. The men and women in uniforms sometimes sacrifice themselves for nothing in return because they are paid almost nothing. Call the police department in Nigeria or in Ghana today and you may get the response tomorrow or the next. Just yesterday my uncle was attacked by some armed robbers on the road back home and by the grace of God, these criminals were caught because a patrol car happened to be passing by. When these criminals were questioned, it came to pass that the guns they were using in their operations happened to come from the police department. Some policemen and women in Africa give their guns and bullets to these criminals to go out and kill their fellow human beings so that they(the policemen and women) may get paid at the end of every night's operation. The police force which is supposed to be protecting innocent citizens from these criminals are rather fueling these criminals with guns and bullets to go out and kill innocent citizens just for money. What about you? do you trust someone or somebody to protect you?

The best protection you can ever get is the protection you give yourself. No matter how well trained the police is, if you don't protect yourself, nobody can protect you that much.

Lucky for me I live in a very safe country. I don't think I've ever had to call the police in my whole life. The worst thing that happend to me, is when I got mugged in a dark alley when I was 16 years old. That's about it. They didn't even take much because I only had about 6 € in my wallet. Who the hell robs someone of 6 Euros!?

Now a days , it is a very difficult job to believe a person. So, I always trust on me only and I'm confident that I can avoid most of the incidents in my life.

that's really sad Kofi.

i'm also from some of the most dangerous countries in the world.. (haiti, jamaica and trinidad..lol just my luck) statistically that is. but i have never really hardly been troubled.

i've only been robbed once(personally that is), and it was by people we knew, they did it to be mean and it was just an old cell phone, that i did not care for.

admittedly one reason i don't deal with a lot of crime is because my family is not poor.

i have seen a lot of crime ..again because my family owns businesses in ghetto areas.

i also have dated people from ghetto areas.
what i can say is that when a person is the victim of serious crime, like seeing their mother shot to death, or being raped, or being robbed and seeing others shot for less than 6 euros..

since where im live 6 euros is more than 600 dollars and people would kill you for that if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

i know someone who was kill in front of others in broad daylight for less than 1 euro.

Anyway though when you are a victim of crime or see crime a lot. YOu Trust NO ONE. NO ONE. No matter where you are you simple lose the ability to trust. and even when you try.. like i tell myself I'm in Holland now there is no crime here. but i still get scared when i hear loud noises, I still act like i'm in jamaica.

anyway well that's my 2 cents. yes i trust others to protect me very much.

the one major crime i have lived through I was saved by the police, i still got hurt but if there were no cops i guess i may have been dead now.

so even in a very poor country i trust others to protect me. but do i trust people .. nope. i cant. not any more at least.
