Default American Idol Giving to charity - around the world

Did anyone watch American Idol when they had the fund raising and gave money to the poor all around the world?

I don't ever have extra money to donate, but this show was so wonderful, I jumped right out of bed and decided to give.

I can't remember the exact amount they raised, but it was huge.

Are you one to give to charities?

There have been times that I've been able to give to charities but not often because more often than not, I just don't have the extra money to give.

It is sometimes good to give to charity knowing that your alms and donations are reaching those who really need them. He who gives shall be given. However, knowing for sure that your givings are not doing what they are supposed to be doing can also be painful and may be stop you from giving more. Hence I'll only suggest that you give to the right people and may be at the right times. Giving to UNICEF for example is a very good idea because you know for sure that your donations are put to very good use and then you might receive your blessings in peace.

That's good news about American Idol.

I haven't given to any charities lately, except for paying for some products that are mailed to me by people who do mouth and foot painting, as they've lost the use of their arms.

Default thats why I use Goodsearch

I use Goodsearch for charities. I support Hoenwald elephant sanctuary in Hoenwald TN. Everytime I do a search through them it generates funds for your charity. So you have no out of pocket.
You get to choose your charity and that makes it easy.

I try to contribute a little to charity through my writing work. Sometimes it's just few dollars and sometimes it's a few cents but they do all add up. Giving something is always better than giving nothing. Little drops together make an ocean.

I give to the local Children's Hospital. I agree though that researching before giving is the best thing you can do. I hate when I hear that the money is not going where it is suppoused to.

Default Didn't catch it

I didn't see this one, but I do give to charity from time to time. I am student, and am not making much money at all, but I do from time to time donate to those in need.

I think that it is about time that one of these idols did give back a portion of their winnings to the people because if not for the people he wouldn’t have those. I just wish that I was there to get some of it.

I didn't see that one but I do like the idea of a big television show giving something back to communities instead of just capitalizing on advertisement money. I try to give a little bit of money to a few different charities when I have something extra.

It's good to be kindhearted to those who are in need and give to charities when posssible. I'm glad the Idol show took an interest in supporting communities. Personally, I give gifts to disabled children and have donated clothes and food to countries when there is a natural disaster. I also support the Red Cross on occasions.

Thumbs up

Reality shows can become a boon and not a bane if they also propound some charitable work. Or give away a part of their earnings to charity...God knows they earn in millions. In my country they earn heck of a lot through sms votes.

I didn't get to watch it when it was on, but I recorded it on DVR and watched it later. This was an awesome program and I think it's great that so many people were able to contribute. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to donate at the time because my husband was off sick from work and our income was very low. However, the call center I work for from home was one of the call centers who took the Idol Gives Back calls. I loved taking those calls and it really felt great knowing I was working for a very worthy cause.

Yes, definitely! I'm not filthy rich, I just have enough. But I've always been sharing what I have in one way or another. Giving does not only mean through money, you can also give old clothes and stuff that you are not using already. It feels good when you shared something to others.
