Kidnapping cases on the rise in Africa - Nigeria
Kidnapping is a criminal act. We all know about kidnapping so I am not going to waste my time defining kidnapping. We have all heard about the worst form of kidnapping going on right now in Mexico whereby girls especially between the ages of 6 and 18 are being seized by drug monsters and then trafficked to far away places where they are forced into the sex trade. Some of them are being sold (home and abroad) and others (especially those who refuse to participate) are being killed by those drug monsters. There is another form of Kidnapping going on right now in places such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. whereby little boys from ages 6-13 are kidnapped and sold to pedophiles.
Kidnapping cases are on the rise right now in Africa. In the case of Africa, those kidnapped are not killed nor sold to pedophiles instead they are taken to far away places and the kidnappers use the opportunity to unlawfully demand huge sums of money from the relatives of the kidnapped person. In most cases, only rich people are being kidnapped especially those rich foreigners who work in the oil field in Nigeria (in the oil rich southern delta). Just a few days ago a British contractor was kidnapped and the kidnappers demanded for huge sum of money. Sometimes they demand as much as $250,000 especially if the kidnapped person is from a very rich home.
Although the Nigerian police force is doing its best, kidnapping cases are on the rise in Nigeria today and one major cause of the rampant kidnappings is the high unemployment rate in Nigeria today. Most people are out of work. The youths graduate from college with nothing at all to do and most of them end up roaming about on the streets. Some join gangs and engage in kidnapping activities just to make money which is very bad.
