Smile Ghana Elects a new President -Ghana speaks

It is the end of another era and Ghana speaks again. Ghanaians marched in their numbers to the polling sites across the length and breadth of the country yesterday voicing out their opinions through their thumbs. The counting of the electoral votes is still ongoing but Ghanaians have spoken and the decision is very clear. Once again, Ghana has proven to be the gateway to Africa. The land of Freedom and Justice. A land of democracy where every vote counts. No blood was shed and no voice unheard. Ghana has spoken. The land of peace and the gateway to Africa.

The most inspiring news came Yesterday from Tuobodom (a popular town in the Brong-Ahafo region) where Madam Ama Kwaa (122 years of age) struggled with her walking-stick all to the way from her little hut to the polling station just to cast her vote. When asked why she struggled all they way just to cast her vote, She said silently, "hmm.. me do me man" meaning "I love my country"

What do you think? Do you like Ghana? well, you cannot love Africa and hate Ghana because Ghana is the soul of Africa. You are welcome to Ghana

exactly as described above but not so fast. I am a Nigerian and I followed the Ghanaian elections from the begining. There seems a run off election scheduled for December 28th because neither the NDC nor the NPP candidates were able to get above the required 50 + 1. Atta mills or the NDC flag bearer will win by all means because the NDC has already won majority seats in the parliamentary elections and even if the NPP candidate Akufo Addo wins the presidential run off, he cannot control the house. One interesting thing though is the fact that one presidential candidate scored zero votes at the polling station where he, his wife, his family and other supporters casted their votes. I smell something

yep! all is set and Ghana has a new president. President John Evans Atta Mills is the new president of Ghana. The former President J.A Kuffour handed over power today to the new President John Evans Atta Mills, a 64 year old professor of Law. Everything is over and Ghana has once again set an example to all other African nations and to the rest of the world. The present United Nations Secretary General called yesterday to congratulate Ghanaians for setting an example. Democracy is the king in the end and the voices of the people and the will of the people reign in the end. Ghana is the gateway to Africa and the land of Freedom.
