Chocolate tastes so good on the tongue and we all love chocolate. Chocolate has a very rich nutritional value and above all, it takes so good. I was watching a program on TV the other day and one American lady said she is so addicted to chocolate she cannot go a day without a bite and as we can see it is not her fault because chocolate tastes so good. We all love chocolate because it takes so good but do you know where those chocolate bars came from? Do you know where those tasty bites came from? well in case you don't know, chocolate come from cocoa beans and cocoa beans are found in cocoa pods and cocoa pods are found on cocoa trees. In other words, without cocoa beans there would be no chocolate in the world. Cocoa beans are very important because they give us chocolate but do you know where those cocoa beans come from? well, cocoa beans from which we get chocolate come from some of the poorest parts of the world so anytime you bite a chocolate bar please do say a little prayer for those who work so hard to give us chocolate.
Cote D'Ivoire or Ivory Coast is the world's leading producer of cocoa beans with several cocoa farms across the country but do you know the kind of people who work in these cocoa farms? well, most of the people who work in those cocoa farms are young kids especially poor orphans and street children some as young as 6 years old. Some of these poor children were trafficked from neighboring countries especially Mali and brought to Ivory Coast to work in cocoa farms under barbaric conditions. Slave traders and child traffickers lure street children and orphans all across Africa and sell these poor children to Ivorian cocoa farmers who need cheap labor and these poor children work day and nights under extreme conditions just to give the world some chocolate. These kids work so hard under extreme conditions to give the world cocoa beans from which we get chocolate but the sad thing is that, most of these children have never tasted chocolate before in their entire life why because chocolate is expensive in Africa and only rich people can afford it.
In other words, the chocolate you enjoy eating causes so much pain and sorrow to poor innocent children in Africa who work under barbaric conditions just to give the world some cocoa beans from which we get chocolate. Most of these children die in silence without anybody hearing about them. They sacrifice their lives just to give the world some chocolate.
