The good and harmful effects of Genetically modified foods

What are your feelings about genetically modified foods? I for one would rather have organic natural foods, however, everywhere we go the food is fake! Cloning food, altering food, and we don't even know the effects! Some people say we can use it to fight malnutrition, but it is still fake! Any thoughts?

I just think in the process when you genetically modify it, it causes some harm but still it helps out a lot when you genetically modify it so I wouldn't say it's too bad for our society.

From what I've researched it's just really not the healthiest, logical, nor fairest substitute for "regular" foods to eat this stuff. I would definitely recommend anyone even considering it to research it further first, or even ask a doctor.

I don't think there is enough information known about what people have dubbed "frankenfoods"

Some modifications are okay and what the world needs to produce more crops to feed the world. But much of what is being done may have long lasting effects and they may not be good effects.

More people need to create gardens in their backyards and stop relying on food grown in conditions and in places that they normally would reject.

Natural is after all natural and there cannot be any substitute for that. With the rise in technology day by day, we can see the genetically modified foods being brought up and according to me, they are not as useful as the originals are. Why? Because they are like remix of old songs to give the beat. Personally, I would prefer natural food over them.

It is my understanding that genetically modified plants basically have a combination of all the best genes. This means that the plants will be more resistant to pests therefore less pesticide will be needed for a healthy crop (and lots of pesticide does get used on organic crops), the plants will grow bigger which means a greater volume of food. This means a fall in food prices. On the whole I think that GM food is the way forward in farming and that we should not be afraid of progress. I for one wouldn't object to eating genetically modified food.

GMO foods are not effectively tested.

there is nothing wrong with genetically modified foods. We need to use technology to produce more to feed the hungry population and that is exactly what genetically modified foods or the GM foods do.

Genetically modified foods at times contain harmful chemicals which may have long term effects on our lives in the near future. The main reason why it is good to stay away from these modified foods is that, scientists don't know much about the future effects of these modified foods. A genetically modified food may have higher yield and look very appealing today but the long term effect may be disastrous. Since science doesn't know much about the long term effects, stay away from some of these foods for now.

Genetically modified foods can help fight poverty in Africa and around the world because genetically modified crops give much yield. Genetically modified crops like maize yield much more than natural crops which can help fight poverty. This should be adopted in poor countries in Africa where people have very little to eat. Getting something to eat is better than getting nothing to eat and dying of hunger.

Genetically modified foods are as dangerous as swallowing unknown drugs. No genetically modified food is safe. We may not notice the consequences today but tomorrow.

I am new in the discussion but I am agree with you on the concept of Genetically modified foods hamful effects. I think we should have to use organic food in our life.
