I try to get at least seven hours of sleep per day, it's kind of difficult with my work schedule but I can't function with less. You should be getting around six hours of sleep everyday, any less isn't good.

hello all,

i guess this is true.. the more you sleep the more you live but from my prospective i would suggest that a person should take at least 7 hrs sleep daily without any fail, it helps in increasing the stamina and refreshes the mind.

i think i sleep around 8 hours or more, when i'm not doing anything. sleep is really good, it does refresh our mind and body after a good night sleep. i don't think its true about the living longer or shorter life if you sleep more or less than eight hours, though.

for children, 8-9 hour sleep is must because it helps in retention of study-content in the mind and for an adult 7-8 hour sleep is necessary for their mind to have rest for good mental health

I sleep for a tleast 7 hours a day. When i don't have much work to do then i like lazing around and thus the hours on bed could increase to 10 - 11 hours a day.:P
Although doctors recommend 8 hours of sound sleep as enough for a day.!!!

it's like 5-7 hours of sleep that are good for you i think. I normally get about 6 hours a night and never have trouble with tiredness. My partner has to have 8 at the least to function, so i think it depends on the person.

I used to sleep a lot. About eight hours per day. As much as I know there is no rule of how much sleeping a person need. Some peoples need to sleep 8/9 hours per day where for some others average four hour sleeping is enough. The most important thing is maintaining a routine of when you will sleep and when will you wake up every day. Its help to work the clock inside you better.

I normally sleep for about seven hours a day. I sleep at 11 Pm and wake up at 6AM in most cases. Sometimes, maybe on weekends, I sleep at about 2 AM. In that case, I also sleep at Afternoon so as to complete 8 hours

And I am surprised that people who sleep more than 8 hours per day live shorter. I don't really think that does happen. I will search on google about this article saying that people live shorter for sleeping more than 8 hours. By the way, where did you read this report?

I honestly believe that everyone is different. Whats to say that sleeping more or less could be bad for you without first experimenting?
I personally some days sleep 9 hours a day, some 3, and some 14. It all depends. A big issue people have is ultimately "owing" themselves hours of sleep due to bad eating, dieting, or sleeping routines.

I have had a lifelong problem of insomnia. There are days when i have slept only 1 hour. I envy you all who can sleep for 7 hours plus.
i really miss the peace of mind in the morning. My brain is constantly thinking and i often feel exhausted even when i am doing sedentary work.

Normaly, A person should sleep 8 hours in a day so i also sleep 8 hours in a day but sometime due to working load i can not manage it .

I have some health problems that cause me to sleep a fair bit. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome so tend to sleep more than most sadly.

I sleep about 11 hours and I'm still tired when i awake like I've never even been to sleep, i forgot what a refreshed sleep feels like.

I have low thyroid, weak adrenals so that makes it even harder to wake up.

Another problem is due to the above i have massive trouble getting to sleep at night so it usually takes me to around 1-2am.

I think the normal sleeping hours ranges from 6 to 9 hours. But if one should sleep up to nine hours I wonder how many you have left. Well, it is possible only when you don't have anything doing; I mean schooling, working etc. For me, I sleep like 6 hours, but sometimes I'm not done with it! especially when I'm stressed out or during cold.

I have usually eight to ten hours of sleep each day since I put to have the luxury of the hour to make it more than that. To have more than these is rare occasion, but that misses to me having long hours of sleep. The sleep is our manner of body of saving energy, thus it is good for you and is very important since it makes it possible our brain to slacken.

I usually get 8 hours of sleep or so during the normal days and in case of a vacation, I usually sleep for more than 10 hours, which is not healthy according to doctors. I need to change this habit sson and according to me, 8-9 hours of sleep is enough for anyone.

I used to sleep for over 9 hours a night. I recently stopped drinking alcohol and as a result I have not been able to get over 3 continuos hours of sleep. I have a doctor's appointment to get som Ambien

Wow, sure wish I was like the rest of you, I hardly ever get any sleep at all. On average, I sleep approximately 3 hours (4 if I'm lucky) per night and I rarely ever take naps during the day. Overall, I get VERY little sleep per week yet, amazingly enough, I hardly ever get tired, either. However, about once every two or three weeks (or so) lack of sleep will finally catch up to me and I'll have no choice but to do everything I can to 'force' myself to fall asleep (it's either that or fall over from sheer exhaustion, lol) and even then it's difficult for me. I'm not a so-called insomniac but, from the way my sleep patterns are (or lack thereof), one might mistake me for one. My lack of sleep is not due to any medical condition, it's simply due an overactive mind that won't shut down when I want it to and, unfortunately, that just happens to be when I want to try and get some zzzz's.

Sheesh, now suddenly I feel ripped off. HA HA :p

I have 8-9 hours of sleep per night. It's better if we extend our sleep which gives our body time to rest. If we lack sleep we tend to feel sleepy
the next day, and if we are working we can't concentrate well.

Well I have to go to school in six and fifteen o clock and I sleep about seven hours maximum!
But on saturday and sunday I sleep from nine to eleven hours so I feel good but sometimes I sleep in school so my sleep is more than six or seven hours a day!

I think getting an adequate amount of sleep is very important to live a long, healthy life. I make sure to get eight hours of sleep each night. I try to sleep in to catch up when I need to. I also take herbal supplements, when I know I need to sleep for a certain amount of time. Being sleep deprived is no fun, so I make sure to get enough sleep.

Sleeping is one of the most important activity in our day to day life. It helps to recharge our body for the next day work. I sleep 2 hours in the afternoon and 7 hours at night. Maximum 8 hours sleep is sufficient to get relaxed. Taking more sleep leads to drouziness and laziness.

sleeping i think is a thing of the mind. before my babies,i can sleep on water,i can sleep off while eating,its as bad as that.but when the babies started coming,i found it difficult to sleep for 7 hours in 24hours. sleep refused to come.even now that they are older, i still find it difficult to sleep for hours at a stretch.my mind is programmed not to sleep for long.

sleeping is good and those who get good sleep according to research live longer than average person. those who get good sleep often are healthy and sound minded so get a good sleep

I usually sleep about 7. But last night I got 5, and I am probably going to get 5 today again. Oh well. If I sleep longer than 8-9 hours, I feel tired during the day.

Well I always heard that good sleeping is healthy for health but more sleeping time is bad for our health. If you sleep less than 7 you are probably stressed out and drawn too thin. If you sleep more than 11, then there a bunch of people out there who are really jealous of you and I think so this very bad for our body.

You are taking enough sleep. If you are not feeling relax after this than you might be change in your food habits. I will suggest you green organic food products and beverages. These makes us healthy.

The requirement of sleep in hours, varies between individuals, physical & mental condition, environment and type of sleep they are having. Some need more, some need less.

So measuring b hours is a wrong parameter.

A good sleep means, the sleep which gives a full refreshment physically and mentally. It may be few minutes or several hours.
