If you are an adult you need 7-9 hours of sleep each night. BUT if you are a teen you are still growing and learning a lot so you need at least 8.5 hours a night. (Maybe we'd all sleep more if we did our work and play earlier in the day and not surf chat forums, eh?)

Well too much sleep can be bad as well. I normally sleep between 9-7 hours. Sometimes a bit more or less.
All I know is, when you're tired it's important to get some rest! I also find it a lot harder to work when I'm tired as I'm not only fighting to stay awake but this also causing me to lose focus. |

I always heard that the correlation was between if you sleep less than 7 or more than 11 (on average) and a shorter lifespan. Correlation doesn't always mean causation. If you sleep less than 7 you're probably stressed out and drawn too thin. If you sleep more than 11, then theres a bunch of people out there who are really jealous of you.

I don't sleep regularly... lol sounds nuts isn't it? Sometimes I sleep 4 hours and sometimes 12 hours. I just always don't want to go to bed. Most of the time I go out for drinks with friends and I would surf in the internet until I am VERY tired when I am home.
The longer you sleep the longer you live sound more sensible to me though. |

According to studies, it is said that sleep within 6 and 12 hours is essential per day to stay sound with health. So i try to maintain my sleeping time within this range and usually sleep 8 hours a day.
And the night sleep is to be considered actually, the sleep during day time is not considered in the time table as the biological clock to keep most of the body systems passive is only during night time. |

The latest studies show that for adults over the age of 20, the best time span to sleep is for 6 hours and 30 minutes.
The results of this study is based on the principles of the human body clock, as well as the neuro-endocrine system, growth hormone, the body burden of organs and protein synthesis, changes in mood during the day, elastic skin conditions, diet habits, such as a combination of factors identified. Sleep for health is just as important as breathing and heartbeat.Six hours and thirty minutes of good quality sleep allow the brain sufficient time to rest, adults mental state during the day will be able to adjust to the best, the body functions will be reduced significantly slow, which is very beneficial to both physical and mental health. |

I usually stay away from 16-30 hours and I sleep anywhere from 3-14 hours.
Last night, I slept 14 hours and I woke up still as sleepy as a bear. Based on where I learn, it actually takes MORE ENERGY to stay asleep than it is to sit in front of a couch and watch TV. Your body uses up the energy to cool down your body just to keep you asleep. Which means sleeping longer doesn't make you last longer. |

The more you sleep the better it is for you. All our body wants us to do is eat sleep and reproduce. Sleep is our body's way of saving energy, so it is good for you. I sleep about 10 hours a day, I have talked to people who are body builders and they sleep up to 12.

well I usually sleep for 6-8 hours daily but when I go to party out with my friends or for some festivals celebrations, I usually stay awake till late in the night and sleep more than I usually do. Sleep is very important since it allows our brain to relax itself. It also helps us to take in the energy require to perform our work the following morning.

Well, I sleep around 8 - 9 hours per day on weekends it goes to around 12 hours
I think its a myth that longer sleep reduces a persons life span. but too much of it won't make you healthier either. btw if you didn't know male lions sleep 19 - 20 hours a day, they just use their remaining time to eat food hunted by the females and mating with them. |

I sleep about 6 hours a night I'm not sure how much is considered healthy because they are always changing it.
I have heard that as we get older we require less sleep and I can agree with that theory but I could use another hour or two of sleep...it might help me cut down on caffeine |

Even I am able to sleep for about 6 hours on an average each night. I have a white collar job and hence does not involve much of physical work.....and hence I do a times find it hard to sleep.
But then, I began to walk for half an hour after the dinner every day and sleep comes to me like a breeze !!!! I do have a very sound sleep when I am at it...since I snore a lot. My routine sleeping time is from 12 midnight to 6 am in the morning. Regards, Walker |

Currently, I have the luxury of sleeping and waking up as much as I want, so I just sleep till I wake up naturally in the morning. But normally on days which I need to go to school or work, I'm always having insufficient sleep (around 4-6hrs) and I usually use the weekends to catch up on some precious sleep.

Right now, I do sleep about five to six hours per day, although when I can, I do try to sleep longer than that. Sleeping actually relaxes our system, boost our immune and revitalizes our body; giving us lively and energetic feeling. But when I gave birth to my second child, I slept like three to five hours only per day, I need to be awake when my baby wakes so I can feed him. When I went back to work, it got even shorter probably around two to three hours per day, as I'm working for about 12 hours, when I reached home I still have to play with the kids and bond with them. But now that I'm working far away from them, I get as much sleep as I can if it permits.

When it comes to sleep, for me, the problems begin.
In most of the week I was sleeping 6-7 hours and accrue to myself hours of sleeping that I will complete at the end of the week. Then comes the end of the week when i sleep all day long to get power for the next week. |

in general sleep of 8 hours per day is considered to be normal.lack of sleep may lead to restlessness, anxiety, tension and many mental disorders and health related problems. so an adequate amount of sleep is desirable specially for the people who work 8-10 hours a day.

I love sleeping but only 8 hours . complete 8 hours . i usually go to sleep by 11 pm . i have complete sleep till 7 am in the morning . sleeping more than 8 to 10 hours is not good for health. our sleep has been compressed into 8 to 10 hours because in our early age that was when we were babies our duty is to sleep sleep & only sleep. now we have grown up and must carry out responsibilities. sleeping more will lead to laziness ...

I guess I sleep for about 6 hours a day. I'm 18 years old and I go to school so the lack of sleep really leaves a lot of really has an impact on me everyday. I can't focus in class I get to tired to study and things like that, but the thing is I can't bring myself to go to bed early, I just can't. I have a feeling like I'm going to miss out on something if I go to bed too early and it's impossible for me to shake that felling. I have tried going to bed early a lot of times, but I just can't fall asleep. I guess I must have some sort of sleeping disorder or some thing. I really should check with my doctor just in case.

On normal weekdays I probably get anywhere from 7-8 hours. On weekends however I have a little more time and like to sleep in. On the weekends I'll probably get anywhere from 9-10 hours. I don't know why I just like sleeping in!
