Default My younger brother is into alcohol binging since the age of 21

Hello there, my younger brother is into alcohol binging since the age of 21 (he is 23 at present). He is not a regular drinker, but when he goes out for a night-out, he binges on it, and get drunk so badly that I have to clean his vomit all night to save him from my parents.

How can I help him stop this type of addiction?

Hey Alice, he sounds like the typical partying teenager except same age like myself.

Im currently totally off drink till i regain my health but i got into the habit due to being depressed last year about health to drink daily and my health suffered even more.

The only way you'll get him to give up is if he finally has the spark in his head himself. You could provide as much info about the effects of alcohol, how much money is wasted etc but if he truly doesnt want to quit he wont.

Its the same with any addiction really the user must really want to or they wont stick to it.

take him to a counselor. If you are a Christian then I will suggest you take him to see your Pastor or Reverend father or even a Catechist. You can also try talking to him one-to-one.

I think the best way to solve this problem is to talk to him and look for something he likes better than drinking vast amounts of alcohol on the night-outs.

It's ok to have some drink when you go out, but that shouldn't be the baseline of going out. Just going out to drink ends up in a disaster. If you go out doing something you like and have some drinks by the way everything should be fine.

I think you should get in touch with a counsellor. Experts give you proper help and guide you on the right path. Getting information on addiction treatment programs is also very easy these days with Internet offering so many resources.

I would talk to him in a loving way. Tell him you care about him and don't enjoy cleaning up after him all the time. Tell him that he should do something about his self destructive ways. Maybe he is not aware that he can get addicted to alcohol, and he needs a family intervention or meeting to help change his ways. Ask him to limit his drinking to just a few drinks when he goes out, and to be more responsible with his health. Best wishes.

Alcohol isn't that bad as compared to smoking yet Alcohol can be very bad if you get addicted to alcohol. It is even in the Bible to drink but not get drunk. You can drink a little at a time but make sure not to get drunk because alcohol Can boil your lungs and destroy your kidney in much the same way as smoking does. If you are addicted to alcohol then I will advice you to seek a professional advice or counseling before it gets too late. Alcohol like smoking can kill you

Help him recognize his addiction problem. Convince him to take to some expert and seek professional help. Also, it is important for him to get the required addiction treatment in order to get back to his normal life. You can can even call their toll free number 800-714-8354 and talk to their counselors. They should definitely be able to help you. All the best!

You can't help him unless he wants to be helped. If he indeed has an addiction problem probably he is denying it right now. You should try giving him some known people with drinking problems examples, to make him see what it might expect him in the future. Who knows, he may even agree going to an addiction treatment center by himself, or he could decide to stop drinking without any professional help if the addiction is not too advanced.
