Default Healthcare - Socialized System would be Good

So I was wondering if any one had any thoughts on the healthcare industry? Do you think a socialized system would be for the best? I am not sure what the answer is but I really feel that something needs to be done.

England has more of a socialized system of providing health care services and I'm not impressed. People wait so very long for medical follow-up, for diagnosis and also treatment. I don't know what the answer is either.

It seems that some countries with a socialized health care system function quite well, while others do not. I wonder what the right solution is, I don't know to much on this, but perhaps those countries that are successful with this, are approaching it in a better way.

I'm not sure that there are easy answers to this one. I live in England and our health care system leaves a lot to be desired. A friend has only just been diagnosed with a brain tumor, it took a year from recognizing that there was a small growth in his brain to getting a biopsy and a diagnosis. Now the growth is huge and he had been told it is terminal -he is 38.

Those kind of examples really do sum up the worst aspect of universal health care. I'm a Canadian and have been lucky enough not to have to deal with any major operations but I remain worried about that kind of thing just because of some of the waits involved with more minor problems. I once sat in an emergency room on a Sunday morning (until evening) for seven hours with a broken collarbone just to have the doctor bend my arm and recommend a sling.

I guess there are pros and cons to both. I still seem to like to be able to choose my own healthcare. I would just like for it to be more affordable for everyone.

I had a big discussion regarding health care methods last night with a friend and I'd have to say that the socialist health care model really is a good one. Even if it isn't as quick as possible it still makes sure that no one is left out from medical attention.

I agree with Global. I am in Canada and had some small bleeding item in my body that Just Needed To Go. I presented into Emergency one evening once I felt it and got really scared of it. Got seen within an hour in Emergency and was at a specialist by 5PM the Next day! The excision was performed that very day! So, for me Socialized health care worked a DANDY , that time, anyways.

Had this happened in USA, as I am very poor, I do NOT KNOW what I would have done. Died , probably. Cause it was really bleeding bad! IF I went to Emergency in USA, I would have, hmm, I really can't tell ya. Charity case paperwork would have taken a long time to get the excision approved, even.

Gawd....

I have lost all faith in the health care system in the UK anyway but it sounds like its the same all over.

Once you've been chronically ill for 5+ years with little to no help you'll agree.

The doctors do nothing just the simple routine blood test and if that's fine well its just all in your head then. Which is a joke especially when it stems for gastrointestinal problems like myself. I can't digest much food at all and all a GI specialist says to me is "find something you can eat then".

Wow are money and tax's are going to paying these morons. There's a hundred reasons why my stomach could be playing up such as dysbiosis, parasitical infection and so on. But they wont even test for anything.

Private is just as bad, the doctors have been trained in the same way.

Both models can be implemented. Socialized model is good for poor people and needy. But it will take much resources because of its size. It will have to cover large areas.

Socialized health care is not the answer.

I would like to see more preventive health care measures taken. Many bigger problems wouldn't be big problems if they had been caught earlier on if not prevented all together.

People need to take care of themselves and stay healthy. Exercise and eating the correct diet go a long way.
