I think its important for you to remember that every agency, person, organization or government entity will always make mistakes as its people that run and make decisions for these bodies - and people make mistakes. While I don't know if the corn syrup in drinks was actually endorsed by the FDA - but if so its just one mistake. There are many other companies that knowingly put lead in children toys, pollute our atmosphere, etc - I'm more worried about them than the occasional mistake the FDA makes.
