Could this kind of diet cause long-term damage ?

Recently I bought "Eat for health" by DR Joel Fuhrman.
In this book doctor proposes quite redical vegetarian or near vegetarian diet
(regime of nutrition).

Could this kind of diet cause long-term damage ?

Had anybody heard something this diet ?

I don't think there's any reason why it should cause long term damage, as long as the person receives all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients their body needs. If they weren't careful they might need to take supplements to achieve this.
From a personal point of view I believe humans are designed to eat a balanced diet of both meat and vegetables for a reason. There's no way I'd give up on eating meat!
