Cigarettes are so expensive, How much do they cost where you live?

Smoking is a bad habit of mine, but I love to smoke. They are 7.50- 8.00 a pack. They just went up recently, and it is very expensive for me. I enjoy smoking when I work, when I wake up, with my coffee, when I drink, after a workout, in the car, and when I am hanging out. I smoke about a pack a day or so. How much do they cost where you live? Have you been cutting back due to the high prices?

Well, in my nearby areas cigarettes are having same prices as you have noted in your thread. But the prices mainly depend upon the types and brands only.

A packet of 20 cigarettes here in the UK costs around £5 (about $10). Legally they must be sold from behind the counter and have health warnings on the packets. They're very highly taxed and rightly so because of the burden they place on our health service. It amazes me that anyone chooses to smoke given the indisputable evidence that it causes all manner of illness. It's also inconsiderate and damaging to the health of non-smokers nearby.

Sacrify? You must mean sacrifice. Okay, let's tear apart your whole "contribution" to this thread. (yes, i know i didn't register. you can leave your complaints at your mom's door)

First: "Smoking that". Smoking what exactly? Cocaine? Heroine? The holy ungodly marijuana? Oh, tobacco. The most addictive and readily available substance in the world? I'm guessing that's what your highly educated comment meant. Which by the way has been an economic staple to both the U.S. and European commerce for over a century.

Second: Sacrify. I wish I had the gumption to invent new words as you have just done. That is truly awesome. I know I wouldn't have the gall to ignore the squiggly red line below the word that I had just made up. You are a forse to be rekond with.

Third: Assuming "sacrify" means sacrifice, nicotine is addictive. If you were a product of the 60's, 70's, 80's or even 90's there is a good chance that it was "cool to smoke". I fell under that category. I'm not proud of it, but alas, I am addicted to tobacco. It's one of the worst choices that I've ever made... but I made it. I am not a violent person, but if I ever met you on the street... let's just say that you would die much sooner than I would for even making such an ignorant comment.

I agree that tobacco should be made illegal, but it isn't. I am addicted to nicotine and I dare anyone to tell me that it is easy to quit. TRUTH.

I had a woman I was working for give me a package of seeds. They were all tobacco. They were so much fun to grow. I used to have a pot in my living room that would bloom around Xmas. They would get these absolutely beautiful blooms around new year.

She mentioned the blooms, and being surprised by them. She was expecting the nasty stuff, like the smell of an ashtray. They had nothing to do with the things we have done with tobacco.

I'm an ex smoker also. You at least learn something while trying to quit. Either way, it is worth the effort.
