The effects of Deforestation and Afforestation in Africa
Deforestation is the cutting down of trees and clearing of bushes without the intention of regrowing them. Deforestation is a major threat in Africa today. About 50% of the forests in Africa are gone and the remaining will be gone sooner than later if no necessary precautions are taken to halt this issue. Overpopulation is the major cause. The bare land is needed since many houses must be built. Unlike the modern day architecture, Africans are into single rather than corporate buildings. About 50% of the animal species in Africa are gone and the remaining 50% could be gone sooner than later if nothing is done to halt this issue. Afforestation which involves planting of more trees to replenish the lost ones is just theory in Africa. Practically, most people don't even care. This is no fault of theirs because most people do not know the harmful effects of deforestation such as global warming. Global warming is not just in Africa but it is a global issue. It is high time international organizations step up and to help solve this problem in Africa. Remember most people do not even know the consequences of their actions and I think education can play a major role. Not only Africans will suffer the consequences but rather, the whole world is in danger.
